“Never claimed to play fair, angel.”

She smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Well, I guess there could be worse things than having this body guarding mine.”

A sense of relief flooded him. “Thank you, angel. For understanding.”

She rose up and pressed her lips to his. “Thankyou.”

“For what?”

“Letting me in.”

Trevor’s heart swelled with emotion. He reached down and brought her right hand to his chest, just above his heart. “You’ve been in, baby. Right here, from the moment I first saw you.”

He didn’t say the words yet. Instead, he spent the night using his hands, his lips, his body to convey how he felt. He didn’t care that they’d only started seeing each other. It was right.Shewas right. She was everything.

Chapter 11

––––––––

Five days later...

“I was going to ask how things are going with you and Lexi, but the way you’ve been wearing that goofy grin all day pretty much sums it up.”

Trevor pulled his attention from the file in his hands to the man sitting behind the large desk. “Pretty much.” He smirked, not even bothering to hide how happy he was.

The past few days with Lex had been great. Yeah, it sucked that she was staying at his place because Lockwood hadn’t been caught yet, but they’d used the time to get to know each other even more.

It was almost scary how much they actually had in common. They shared the same taste in almost everything...music, movies, books. She even told him she’d always wanted to learn how to shoot a gun.

She was off tomorrow, so he’d planned a little surprise for her. First, he was going to take her out to a nice lunch, then to Jake’s ranch. They’d spend the afternoon at the private shooting range there and then go for a ride on Jake’s horses.

Olivia and Jake already had things planned so there’d be a picnic waiting for them on one of the hills overlooking the horizon. It would be their first formal date...and the day he finally told her how he really felt.

“There’s that damn grin, again.”

Trevor blinked and found Jake staring back at him with a wide, knowing smile. He cleared his throat. “I thought we were supposed to be picking the guys for our new R.I.S.C. team, not sitting around gabbing like a bunch of girls.”
