She smiled even more. “I’ve told you before, call me Lexi. All my friends do.” With a little wink, she turned and walked away.

Trevor’s eyes couldn’t help but follow.

Alexis—no,Lexi—might be small, but the woman was still packed with curves in all the right places. He’d spent many a recent night imagining how those hips would feel beneath his as he held on to them while he slid his body into her—

“Just here for the food, huh?”

Trevor blinked and looked across the table at Derek. The man had aI know you’re full of shitsmirk on his face.

Resigned, Trevor sighed. “Fine. I think she’s cute. Whatever.”

“Sheiscute. And she likes you.”

Shaking his head, he started to argue. “She doesn’t—”

“Dude” Derek cut him off. “She was practically eye-fuckin’ you while you were givin’ her your order. And then there was the whole”—his voice turned low and husky—“let me know if you think of anything else you need.”

Despite his irritation, one corner of Trevor’s mouth rose slightly. “She was talking about what I wanted to eat, you idiot.”

“Oh, Iknowwhat you want to eat. Not that I can blame you. Lex is a hot little number. She’s got that whole girl-next-door-thing goin’ for her. Personally, I like my women to have a little meat on their bones. More to hold on to, if you know what I mean. But if you really don’t plan on makin’ a move there, I think I might just have to—”

Hedidkick Derek then. Hard.

“Ow!” Derek bent down, rubbing his leg beneath the table. “What the hell?”

Leaning forward, Trevor made sure Lexi wasn’t within earshot as he growled a resounding, “Don’t.”

“What’s your problem?”

“Myproblemis Alexis isn’t like all those other women you screw around with. She’s not a one-and-done kind of girl. She’s a...a take on dates and buy flowers kind of girl. Hell, she practically screams white-picket-fence, and kids, and a dog, and...”

Derek’s brows rose. “You got all of that just from her taking your order a few times?”

Shit.Okay, so maybe he’d observed her a little more closely than he had any other women in a while. Or...ever.

So what?

“I’m just saying”—Trevor continued—“she seems genuinely nice. And I don’t want to see her get hurt by some jackass like you, who’s just looking for his next piece of ass.”

Rather than be offended by his harsh comments, the corners of Derek’s mouth curved slowly, not stopping until they’d stretched into a wide, toothy smile.

The booth’s cheap, imitation leather creaked as he settled back into his seat. “I’ll be damned.”

Trevor knew better than to ask, but he did it anyway. “What?”

“You like her. I mean, youreallylike her.”

He opened his mouth, the lie ready to fall off his tongue, when a man’s loud voice caught their attention.

“There’s my Lexi-Loo. I was wondering when you were gonna come over here and givemesome attention.”

Trevor turned around to see Lexi standing next to a booth closer to the door. The man who’d spoken was alone, and from this angle all Trevor could tell was that the guy had blond hair.

“Hi, Rob.” Lexi greeted him. “What can I get you?”

Trevor could tell from the change in her tone that Lexi wasn’t nearly as excited to see this Rob guy as she’d been to see him and Derek. He chose to ignore the jolt of happiness that gave him.

“You know I don’t like to share you, Lexi-Loo.” Rob pouted like a spoiled child.
