Lexi was still lyingin Trevor’s bed, awake and restless, when she’d heard the water from the other shower come on. A picture of his nude, muscular form flashed before her eyes. As hard as she tried, she couldn’t make it go away.

She didn’t mean to be inappropriate with her thoughts, but damn...the man was mouth-watering. Knowing he was only a room away—wet and naked—left her more wound up than when she first lay down.

When the bathroom door opened and then closed again, Lexi listened closely. She ignored the feeling of disappointment that hit when she heard him walk back down the hallway.

Away from the room she was in.

Not that she actually expected him to come join her.Hoped, maybe, but hadn’t expected it.

Trevor had claimed the drama with the tire and Rob weren’t an issue. He’d looked and sounded sincere when he told her he liked her, and there was no mistaking the heat in his eyes when he’d been staring back at her.

She’d been certain he was about to kiss her, but instead, he’d acted as if someone had drenched him with a splash of cold water by standing abruptly and practically ordering her to go to bed.

For the next hour, Lexi lay there, tossing and turning. Wondering what she’d done wrong. Until it hit her.

He was protecting me.

That had to be it. After what happened with Rob, Trevor hadn’t wanted to come off as a pushy, uncaring asshole. So, he’d sent her to bed and taken the couch.

Even though she’d rather he be snuggled up next to her, Lexi couldn’t help but smile. Minute later, she fell asleep thinking chivalry was alive and well after all.

The next morning, Lexi shuffled her feet across the carpet as she walked into the bathroom. She’d slept all night, but it had been a restless sleep.

One filled with wonderful dreams of love and laughter, as well as some not-so-good dreams of Rob and his manhandling ways.

After taking care of her teeth and other necessities, she decided a quick shower would help wash the grogginess away.

A few minutes later, she felt refreshed and ready for the day. Putting Trevor’s shirt back on, she decided to forgo the sweats.

The water had felt amazing, but her legs were still pink from its heat. Plus, the t-shirt was just as long as her dress was, so her important parts were covered.

And it’s not torn.

Shaking those thoughts away, Lexi ran her fingers through her damp hair one last time before turning off the light and heading to the kitchen. She smelled coffee as soon as she’d woken, and knew Trevor was already up.

Still, Lexi froze when she saw him.

He was standing at the stove, stirring what smelled like some sort of delicious bacon and egg concoction. He had on a black t-shirt and a pair of faded jeans that made his tight ass appear even more grab-worthy than the dress pants he’d had on last night.

Lexi watched the muscles move beneath the fabric of the shirt as he efficiently worked the food in the skillet. The man was stunningly gorgeous, was sweeter than any she’d ever met, and he cooked.

In a word, he was...“Perfect.”

She hadn’t meant to whisper it out loud, but Trevor must have heard something because he turned and gave her the sexiest grin she’d ever seen.

“Morning.” Then, he blinked.

His eyes widened slightly before sliding down the length of her bare legs. When his gaze found hers again, there was no mistaking the heat there.

Trying to pretend an embarrassing blush wasn’t currently crawling up her neck and into her cheeks, Lexi smiled back and walked into the room.

“Good morning. What smells so good?”

“Scrambled eggs with crumbled bacon, chopped onion, and American cheese.” He looked adorable when he shrugged a little and added, “My grandma used to make eggs like this when I was little.”

Feeling much more like herself than the night before, Lexi used her hands to hoist herself up on the island behind him. From there, she watched as he worked his culinary magic.
