He moved up and kissed my mouth, and it was as he was kissing me that I felt him make that first thrust into my body. I gasped. I’d forgotten howbighe was.He swallowed my gasp. He pushed in further and the sensation bordered on pain.

He broke the kiss and looked down. ‘OK?’

I moved under him to alleviate the pressure and he went deeper. Andohhhhhh,he hit a sweet spot and the tension changed to something far more pleasurable, running all the way up my spine.

‘Yeah... That’s good. Right there.’

Chapter 26

Brodie

No shit,Brodie thought. He had to take a deep breath to try to stave off the urge to move straight away. What was it with this woman? She made him feral.

Slowly, when he felt he could handle it, he started to move, in and out, a little deeper, a little harder.

Jess’s leg came up over his hip and it changed the angle. Brodie groaned. She was going to kill him. He kept his eyes on hers, because that was the only thing grounding him. Normally he’d avoid eye contact like the plague, but he needed to see her, to see how this was affecting her so he could react...

Her cheeks were flushed, hair damp on her brow. Pressure was building in his balls. The need to take things up a notch.

As if she could read his mind, Jess said, ‘You don’t need to be careful with me, Brodie, I’m not made of glass.’

He huffed out a short laugh that became another groan as she put her other leg around his hip. She arched up and her breasts scraped his chest. The flimsy control Brodie had been holding on to snapped.

He drove into her, again and again, until he felt her go still, and then she splintered around him when he was so deep inside her that he couldn’t hold back. They came together in a blindingrush of pleasure that went on and on, leaving Brodie limp and spent.

It took a long moment for consciousness to return. For thoughts to formulate. Words. Articulacy. Brodie realised he was squashing Jess and he came up on his hands and looked down. She was just staring up at him, looking as shell-shocked as he felt. Tendrils of damp hair across her forehead. It made him feel a dangerous sensation, like tenderness.

He pulled free of her body with a wince, and managed to get off the bed and go into the bathroom to deal with the protection. It was just sex, he assured himself. Amazing sex. When he came back out Jess was on her back, an arm flung over her face.

Instantly he felt cold. He came to the bed. ‘Jess?’ Had he hurt her? Had he been so lost that he’d not realised that maybe she’d not been enjoying it? The thought made him feel sick.

She took her arm down and his chest contracted when he saw her expression. Angry.

‘Christ, Jess, what did I do? Are you OK?’

She shook her head. ‘No, I’m not OK. What the hell is that between us?’

Brodie was confused. ‘What is what?’

She threw an arm out to encompass the bed. ‘What just happened.’

He relaxed infinitesimally. ‘What are you talking about?’

She glared at him. And then her expression changed to something more like bewildered. ‘The other night... I put it down to the moment, the illicitness of what we were doing. The anonymity... But it was even more...’ She stopped talking.

Brodie couldn’t deny a swell of pride, but it was tinged with the same bewilderment she felt because it was the same for him.

‘Jess, if it’s any consolation, it’s not usually like that for me either.’

She sniffed. ‘Really?’

Brodie nodded. He got onto the bed and reached for her, and she came into his arms and he felt like he was falling even though he wasn’t standing. He lay down and Jess wrapped an arm around his chest, her face tucked into his neck.

He ran his hand up and down her back. After a while her breaths evened out and got deeper. One word resounded in Brodie’s head as he gave in to the urge to close his eyes as well.Shit.Because she might just have ruined him.
