Their desire flared anew energized by their psionic bond. They kissed long and slow with their love echoing back and forth between their minds. Clothes came off as they moved into the bathroom to shower.

Water would come later. They pressed their naked bodies together, kissing long and deep. As Ajha felt his hard length pressed against her belly, she raised her leg and curled it around his hips. Calan pushed her against the shower wall and slid his cock into her as their desire resonated between them.

Ajha wrapped herself around him, and he saw in her mind exactly what she wanted. Calan thrust in and out of her in slow, hard strokes all while sharing deep tongue tangling kisses.

Ajha clung to him, moaning in delight each time he drove his cock into her. Together they soared in their minds toward that rapture of shared ecstasy as they climaxed together, panting and moaning between tender kisses and silent endearments.

Love blossomed between them like the blue yarrel flowers on Oltarin that Lara had brought from Aledus. The pleasure of joining their bodies was a celebration of that love, a word they never had to say because they shared it in its purest form mind to mind. Their spirits soared together, and they reveled in it.

Sometime later they separated, and Calan finally turned on the shower. They took turns washing each other which rekindled their desire. They made love a second time in bed before they finally shared a light meal.

When they went back to bed the second time, they sat on the bed facing each other with their legs crossed and touching. Calan took her hands in his. They closed their eyes and just breathed together sharing feelings of love and harmony mind to mind.

Calan shared memories with Ajha showing her the life he had on Oltarin with his parents Hankura and Chelle, brother Jamerin and sister Lara. He showed her their beautiful home in the Cerulean Mountains, riding the trails on their horses, and camping in the forest.

Then he shared how he learned to control his psionic abilities. The most essential thing Ajha learned was how to slip into a Normal’s mind without causing damage. That technique was used to seek out inner thoughts the subject might not want to share.

Otherwise, a psion generally only needed to open their mind to ‘hear’ a Normal’s thoughts. Blocking out all those random thoughts in places thick with people was essential to a psion’s sanity. She was more than a little grateful to learn that.

At least Ajha would never have to go through that horrific psion evaluation his mother had on Aledus. His father should have known better. But Hankura had been emotionally damaged by his mother’s refusal to move to a psion friendly world instead of sending him away to Velran when he was only ten. He’d felt rejected by his family when he needed them most.

Hankura felt that going back to Aledus was the only way he could reconcile his feelings of rejection. His need to reunite with his family clouded his judgment as to taking Chelle to Aledus. Still dawning, Chelle was subjected to a torturous psi test that nearly put her into psychic shock.

His parents’ stay on Aledus had been everything Hankura feared and worse when Calan’s grandmother Natar nearly killed them both. His father had learned a hard lesson---actually a few hard lessons at Chelle’s expense because he had put his needs before hers.

But, his mother always forgave him, loved him. Hankura wasn’t perfect---far from it. He had done some selfish things fooling himself into believing they wouldn’t hurt Chelle. But they were psion mates. Their love and understanding of each other’s faults allowed them to forgive each other. Chelle’s love ultimately healed the emotional wounds his father had suffered. His outlook changed after their stint on Velran when Calan was conceived.

His father had mellowed and matured. His parents were more in love than ever. They’d even talked about having more children at their age. Amazingly enough, they were still physically capable of breeding.

Psions were free on Aledus now thanks to Jamerin, but Calan saw no need to take Ajha there. It would be nice to meet his grandparents face to face, but Lara and Jamerin had shared memories with him, so it was almost like he had met them himself. Natar and Ludren had sent their love as well to Calan through his siblings.

Calan’s parents had forgiven Natar who had no memory of what she had done. They blamed it on the Aledan government for requiring the barbaric psion conditioning that drove her to madness. Natar had to be put in stasis and transported to Velran for the Wholaskans to heal her.

Despite all they had been through, Calan’s parents love for each other survived it all. Calan shared those memories with Ajha so she would understand that his love for her was just as great.

Even though Ajha had never had any formal education, Calan assured her that she was intelligent enough to learn anything. His mother Chelle had been just like Ajha, and she had become a physician. He had all the educational materials they would need in his AI unit for the complex. He would help Ajha learn to read and do arithmetic enough so she could begin educating herself.

In turn, she could help others do the same. He hoped at least some of the people he brought to the refuge would also know how to read so that they would eventually be able to run the Refuge. Calan never intended for it to be a dictatorship. Ultimately, the residents would elect a governing body so he could devote his time to his healing practice and eventually the family he and Ajha would have together.

If this community became successful, Calan hoped others would come to help it become self-sufficient.

Chapter Eight

The next day, Rax went to the Starport city with the hover tram to pick up the twenty self-inflating air beds that Calan had ordered. A few of the small children would have to share temporarily, but everyone would have a bed.

Instead of going out looking for people, Calan helped Ajha reach out to her friends and acquaintances who needed refuge with her mind. He taught her to meditate while they sat on the bed cross-legged facing each other and held hands. Closing their eyes, Calan soothed Ajha mentally so she could relax and clear her mind and open it to the psionic energy of other minds. Once he felt her sensing it, he showed her how to let her mind reach out to people who felt like she had trying to eke out a living in the ruins of Farringay.

Breathe in…breathe out…breathe in…breathe out. I am in you, and you are in me. We are one in complete harmony with each other.

We open our mind and let our spirit flow along the unseen stream of thoughts bubbling from the minds around us. Hear them with our mind…

“The kids are getting so thin. I don’t know where I’m going to get food for them…”

“Who’s out there? Can they see me? Please don’t let them see me. I don’t want to be raped again. Am I ever going to be safe?”

“Jeffie’s gone. I’m all alone---so scared. Hungry. Three days no food. If I go out to look for some, the gangers will get me. Please, I need somebody to help me.”

“Mommy! I want Mommy. Why did they take her? Will they bring her back? I’m hungry. Mommy?”
