At least the boys seem to be having a good time. Tristan and Dom managed to get Aaron to loosen up enough to start spending money on some artwork. I have no idea where he plans on displaying the pieces since his house is already filled withenough art, but I’m not about to question his spending habits right now. Not when he’s making Jenna so happy.
Everything goes black as I feel clammy fingers cover my eyes. The familiar scent of Chanel perfume gives her away instantly. Whipping around, I pull Sammy in for a hug, almost breaking down in tears.
“Oh my god, you bitch! Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” I exclaim into her hair, which is a different color again. A beautiful, rich green this time.
Whenever Sammy gets bored or is having a hard time with life, she changes her hair. She’s the type of person who can pull off any look, and I secretly hate her for it.
“You know how much I love surprising you. Besides, I wasn’t about to miss your big break. You’re definitely getting promoted. This is fucking amazing, Zoe.” Sammy grabs my cheek, inspecting me like she hasn’t seen me in years, but in reality, it’s only been a couple of months. “Also, you look hotter than last time, which is so unfair.”
“Stop,” I say, rolling my eyes.
“I’m serious, bitch. It’s probably all that sex with a hockey player that’s giving you the glow up. I want to see his massive, pierced cock,” Sammy nearly screams, and I almost lunge at her.
“Are you insane?”
“Oh, come on. Like anyone can hear me over the music and their own gossip. Did you run into Fuck Face? I have to remind myself that jail is not suitable for people like me whenever I’m tempted to throw him in front of a bus.
“Yeah, he already came by and gave me a pathetic apology.” I brush it off, but Sammy’s jaw nearly hits the floor.
“Shut the hell up. No, he didn’t. He’s been so bitter, I was sure he was going to make some sort of scene.”
Interesting.
“No. But he seemed nervous when he came over. I don’t even know. I walked off before he finished his speech.”
“Maybe your boyfriend scared him off!” She’s way too excited for her own good. I’m just realizing how much I missed Sammy’s theatrics.
“Sammy.” I shake my head, smiling.
She looks back at me. “You know that’s hot. All possessive and shit.”
“I’m just so happy you’re here.”
Sammy’s smile vanishes as her mouth pops open in surprise. “Sweet Jesus, I know I’m into chicks, but he’s even hotter in person.”
I turn to see Dominik and Tristan walking toward us.
She’s right. He is hotter in person. There’s an aura about Dominik the camera can’t capture. He’s like walking sex on a stick, and with Tristan next to him, they’re lethal—enough to even make a lesbian take notice.
I love that Dominik’s eyes are only on me.
Wherever we go, countless people stare at him, yet he remains oblivious. He is constantly watching me, noticing how I react to him and to the things happening around us. He has been observing me from a distance tonight. I can’t tell if he’s been keeping tabs on me or if he’s enjoying seeing me at work, being passionate about something. Maybe it’s a mix of both.
The moment I walk into a room, his eyes are immediately drawn to me. They’re always on me.
He belongs to me just as I belong to him.
Tristan says hi to Sammy, but before I can even introduce them, Dominik pulls me into a frenzied, breathless kiss. And after a long second, he peels himself away and leans close to my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
“This is more than they deserve, baby. I’m so proud of you.”
Hearing those words does something to me.
I’ve only ever heard Aaron say that to me a couple of times, and I’ve never dreamed of hearing it from my parents. But this is different. For some reason, hearing those words come from Dominik overwhelms me. The intensity of it reverberates through me as I stare into his eyes, feeling the weight of those three words so deeply that I want to tell him.
I could just say it because I’ve felt it for a while now.
But I don’t.
