“Atlas,” Lucien began, “why don’t you go show Kassie the shelves. I’m sure she would like to hear more about it from you than me, anyway. You know more about wood sturdiness and hardiness than I do.”
Kassie giggled, and I looked between Lucien and Kassie again.
“I don’t know…”
"Atlas,” Kassie rubbed my forearm, “You just seem like you work hard with wood all day.” She smiled. “I think I want to know from the expert which is the best wood to use.”
Kassie hooked her arm with mine, and I felt hot under my wings. My lower arms were still holding my slit together as she walked me toward the shelves. I looked back at Lucien, who was shooing me away, nodding for me to continue to speak with the customer.
“Ah, well, what do you plan on putting on the shelves?”
Kassie hummed. “You want to know what I plan on putting on the wood? I have one thing in particular I need to make sure of, and that is, it can getwet. Like reallywet!”
“Wet?”
Kassie, who I realized came up just halfway up to my shoulder, but was still relatively tall for a human, smiled up at me. “Yes, Atlas, it's going to get soaked.”
Chapter Five
Atlas
Ifluttered my wings behind me. The sun had set, and the glamor had long faded away.
Lucien’s apartment was next to mine, above our furniture store. It was convenient, especially for Lucien.
“I’m glad you are finally listening to me. Good thing we can furnish the whole thing ourselves. It was all bare bones up here.” Lucien laid out the bedspread. It was mostly plain, gray and white stitching on the black fabric. It was supposed to make my wings stand out so my match would pay attention to me instead of the room around her…
Or that was what we thought.
We didn’t know what our feral selves did for rutting, except instinct told us that our wings were our best asset. I mean, it was the biggest thing on our body.
“Atlas!” Lucien snapped his fingers in front of me and made a whining noise of agitation when he turned around. “Just because you have an apartment to come back to doesn’t mean you can mate with a human. Do you understand?” One of his black antennae curled up in question.
I scratched the back of my head and turned around, fiddling with the desk and the papers that lay on it. They meant nothing, just made it look like I lived here. The studio apartment was small. A kitchen, bed, closet, desk.
It looked like a prison.
Or a fuck room.
That was a disgusting idea. Why would I bring a female back here?
I felt two hands, each grabbing an individual arm. “Atlas, it is going to be fine. I don’t understand why you are so nervous. I’m just reminding you. You never go to the Forest Hall meetings. Monster seed near human intimate parts is potent. It makes humans go crazy.” He whirled his finger around his eyes. “Makes them want to fuck us like an incubus wanting to feed.”
I blinked my large red eyes. That sounded… fun.
My lower hands pushed against my slit.
“Trust me,” he sang. “No, you don’t!”
I groaned. “I’m horny. Aren’t you always wanting to rut?”
Lucien cleared his throat. “I’ve been taking suppressants. The witches at the pharmacy gave me some. Perhaps I could retrieve some for you.”
I gasped. “You have been holding out on me! You wanted to see me suffer! You know how many times a day I have to go jack off!”
Lucien snickered. “Yeah, it's been my pleasure.”
“That’s why I have these massive arms!”
