I nodded and moved over to get Shona. She took my hand in hers, and had her gun in the other. I kept Viper near me. He was on lookout on the other side of Shona, while I kept an eye on her right. I ran with her to the side door of the clubhouse which she told me was the closest to the chapel. Viper stuck close behind us, his gun ready to protect. The door was open and we headed inside, keeping to the wall in case anyone was in there. Most of them were busyoutside, or in the main bar. Shona showed us how to duck down so we couldn’t be seen as we headed to the chapel. She was certain he would be in there, and no one else would be.
I kept my eyes peeled on the Sons all around the clubhouse talking about Ace, Hawk and Bear. It took everything in me not to start shooting now. I shoved the door open and we walked through, startling Alasdair, who clearly didn’t expect a damn thing. He was alone as I suspected since he didn’t think his men were worth their weight in gold.
“You’ve come home, Shona,” he said, his eyes shooting to me and Viper standing behind her. “I knew you would.”
“This isn’t my home,” she said, her voice steady. I was proud of her doing this. “And you won’t make it out of here alive.”
His chuckle was loud and obnoxious. “That’s some backbone you’ve acquired. You sure that one behind you is making it for you? I can call Blunt in here to show you what he wanted to do to you all those years ago.”
I slid up behind her, my hand on her hip, showing her I was here with her. That this fucker wasn’t going to hurt her anymore.
She was in control.
“This is yours, baby. He can’t hurt you anymore.”
She raised her gun and aimed.
“This is for Darby.”
He was about to jump up to run at her before she took her shot. His body flew back into his seat. The blood trickled down his nose from the bullet wound between his eyes.
“Nice fucking shot,” Viper said, visibly amazed. “We gotta go.”
I took her hand and led her back the way we came. No one had heard the shot since we’d made the decision to put a silencer on the gun earlier. As we moved down the hall, someone stepped into our path, blocking us.
I recognised him as one of her brothers. Grabbing her gun, I wheeled around and shot him in the chest before I grabbed her hand and we took off running, shooting at the fuckers who came after us.
“Hit it,” I yelled out to Wolf. “Hit it!”
We didn’t stop running until we got to the fence, just as the first explosion rocked the clubhouse. They were designed to go off in a circle, so we needed to get out of here quickly. Screams lit up the area as more explosions went off. We jumped on my bike and the others jumped on theirs, riding until we got to the border. I pulled over just as we neared Dublin. The others were directed to split up so it didn’t look like we’d taken revenge, even though we knew it could fall back on us. I found us a nice spot and got off the bike, turning to face her. “You okay?”
She nodded. “I feel buzzy…like I have bees in me or something, but I don’t feel sad. Does that make me a monster?”
“Nah, baby, I’m the monster in this relationship,” I said, kissing her on the lips.
“You’remymonster,” she said against my lips and I chuckled at how well she suited me. “Now take me home so I can ravage you.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
I jumped back on and we rode through Dublin and down to Kilkenny leisurely, enjoying the ride and each other. Finally, I could enjoy my woman without fear of losing her.
ELEVEN
Shona
A few days later
Savage was sitting in the booth with Viper and Ace, and for once they were drinking coffee and not beer. I gave Kayleigh a little wave, and moved over to sit with Savage.
“Sleep well?” Viper asked, looking like he’d been up all night. His sunglasses were over his eyes and his mouth was pulled into a grimace.
“Yes,did you?”
“No, there was some kind of banshee screaming the walls down last night.”
I giggled and looked at Savage who was smirking into his coffee. Last night we’d been insatiable for each other, fuelled by the excitement earlier in the night. With everything that had been pulling us apart, we couldn’t stop ourselves.
Finally free.
