I really want to take out my phone and call for reinforcements, but right now, we’re at the mercy of Ely’s group, and I don’t trust the way the doctor—or whatever the hell he is—keeps side-eyeing me. Serial killer vibes are a thing, as evidenced by this asshole.
Eventually, I can’t take any more silence. Especially, since the rest of the house has finally gone quiet as well. It makes my skin crawl not having any idea who else is in the house. I catch Marcus’s eyes and ask, “How are you holding up?”
“Don’t answer him. I’m not done taking out this glass. If your friend gives a fuck about you, he’ll stop getting in my way,” the man snarls as he sends me a poisonous glare, before switching his attention back to Marcus.
“Any relation to Doc by chance?” I mutter, not quietly enough when the man snorts, but otherwise doesn’t answer.
“What the fuck is going on out there?” Daniel growls as he steps into the living room. Ely is right behind him, holding her baby.
Daniel seems less than impressed that she brought the baby out, but I have no plans to get involved in their spat. I immediately stand, gesturing to the chair I was in to see if Ely wants it. She merely rolls her eyes and takes a spot on the couch alongside the far wall.
“You’re lucky she didn’t kill you for that,” the man mutters as he finishes bandaging up Marcus. “Although, maybe it’s so she can give me a present to do it myself…”
Yeah. Definite serial killer vibes. What. The. Fuck.
“Javi, please don’t scare our guests. They’re not used to your…unique sense of humor.” Daniel grimaces as he sits down next to Ely. I have a feeling he’s covering for this Javi character, but I’m not in a position to make any demands.
“Alright, let’s get down to business,” Ely cuts in, exhaustion lining her face as she carefully holds her child. “We don’t havetime for bullshit. Our gang got sold out, there’s a traitor in our midst. One I will find, and take much enjoyment in killing. Now, as for how you guys got so lucky as to be pinched…that I don’t know.”
I stare at her and take a deep breath. “You think we have someone in our organization as well, don’t you?”
“It makes the most sense. We didn’t know you were coming. And while we’re being targeted, we were still able to get out. We’re in hiding, need to know only—which is why you shouldn’t be here—but Ely thinks highly of you.” Daniel’s scowl has Javi chuckling softly, the sound raising the hair on the back of my neck.
“Shit,” Marcus mutters, and we exchange a loaded look.
We’re both thinking the same thing. Is it Leandro? And if so, how do we get word to the rest of them without it being monitored? The kid is in everything… I know Tennant trusts him, but we’ve found out far too often that trust can break, even when it’s not meant to be broken.
“What can we do?” I ask, unsure where to go from here.
“For now, get some rest. Your friend here has a concussion, so I suggest you take it easy. I’ll work on getting word out,” Javi states flatly as he packs everything away. He pauses before turning toward the other two occupants in the room. “And Ely, I’ll be adding this to my account.”
Rolling her eyes, she gestures for him to leave. I have so many questions, but I keep them from rolling off my tongue.Barely. Right now, I have to hope this man knows what he’s doing…and hopefully, our Doms can come to the rescue.
Fuck, we will so not be allowed to go anywhere again.
Let’s hope there’s something to go home to, though. Because if we’ve got a traitor…what else is going on without us knowing?
The door slams closed, and the sound of the car starting up echoes around the house. None of us say a word.Fuck. It’s going to be a long day…
For now, all we can do is rest. The traitors will have to wait until we have some answers, but when we find them…it doesn’t matter who it is, nobody will save them—not even Tennant, if it is his son selling us out.
Normally, an irritated Tennant is amusing, when he stops pretending to be so controlled and lets people see behind the façade. Today, however, it’s annoying, as Allesandro isn’t a threat. Lio is in love with both Tennant and Hollis, and while I can’t say he’d reject his Master if given the chance, I also know he won’t let anything come between him and his Daddy and Owner. Not only that, I know where Lio’s loyalties lie, and if I thought there was a chance he’d leave me for Allesandro…well, the former Martelli Boss wouldn’t still be living.
As that meeting wraps up, my computer starts beeping, the safety measures on Marcus’s car going off.
“Shit.” Switching feeds, I tap into the audio for the car and wince when the sounds of chaos echo around the room.
As quickly as I can, I send messages to those I need to, while trying to find any cameras in the area so I can see what the hell is going on.
Hollis bursts into the office around the same time Keegan and Carter do, which is inconvenient. I had hoped to bring Hol up to speed before dealing with people.
“What the hell is going on?” Carter demands.
“There’s been an…incident. Marcus and Antonio were ambushed on their way to Ely’s.”
“Fuck,” Hollis hisses. “There aren’t many cameras in that area.”
“Did you deploy soldiers?” Keegan asks, and it’s a fight not to roll my eyes.Does he think I’m new at this?
