“And that’s why she parked on the porch. He was still functioning when they got to the house, but he would have needed her support to make it into the house. They think she drugged him, then got him into the car almost immediately. Otherwise he would have passed out in the car and she wouldn’t have been able to move him at all.”

I put my cup down. “Wow. That’s just… just… What the hell, man? How can I be mad at him now?”

“Yeah, I know,” he says. His phone buzzes again and he checks the message. “It’s Ryder. He wants to know if I know where you live?”

“What? Why?”

“He wants to go check on Alex. Can I tell him?”

I think about it for a moment. I could go home and check on her, and tell her everything Johnny just told me. But it might be better if it comes from Ryder, considering he stayed with Connor and Devon last night and knows more about what happened when we left.

“Yeah, tell him. Tell him not to tell Connor yet, though. She’ll need time to digest the information and to figure out whether she’ll even be able to forgive him. She’s been cheated on so many times already, and rock stars aren’t exactly known for their faithfulness. No offense. But she’s probably going to want to really think about whether she can deal with all that comes along with dating someone as famous as you guys are.”

Johnny types a message into his phone before placing it face down on the table again.

“Now, what should we do for the rest of the day?” Johnny asks. “I don’t think you’ll want to be back at your place if Alex eventually forgives Connor. I don’t know that your walls are thick enough to block out the noises they’ll be making.” He laughs and mimes humping the table.

I burst out laughing. “You’re probably right. Let’s go find something to do.”

“I know just the thing. I’m going to take you on a date.”
