Aiden - Are you avoiding me? I shouldn’t expect anything different, but please, just meet me this one time, and then we won’t have to talk again.
Geez, five messages in an hour? This guy is desperate.
Me - What is it? I have things to do. Can’t you just tell me in a text?
Aiden - No, it’s too important. It has to be face to face.
Me - Fine. When do you want to meet?
Aiden - I’m volunteering until 6. How about we meet for dinner?
It’s a good plan on his part. I can’t yell at him much if we’re meeting in a public place like a restaurant. But I am going to yell at him. Because he deserves it. And I don’t give a fuck if we’re in public.
Aiden - Meet me at Marcus at 7? Does that work for you?
I’ve actually been wanting to try Marcus for quite a while, but I never seem to find the time. That and I have no one to go with me. It’s kind of a date place, but if Aiden wants to go there, I’m going to take him up on the offer. Just so I can finally try it, that’s all.
Me - Yes, that sounds fine. I’ll see you at 7.
Oh, shit.
Now I need to figure out what to wear. Life was a lot easier when I spent most of it in uniform. I’m not one for dressing up, or looking fashionable, and I always have a hard time choosing appropriate outfits. Looks like I need to enlist Xena’s help for this. As long as she doesn’t dress me in super short shorts again, we should be fine.
Me - I need you to come over when you’re done work. Help me find something to wear to go to dinner at Marcus tonight.
Xena -ooooh. Dinner at Marcus? That sounds fancy.
Me - Shut up. Will you help me or not?
I’m going to get enough shit from her when she gets here. I don’t need any of it right now.
Xena - Yup, I’ll be over around 2. Plenty of time to find you something to wear before your big date. We can even go shopping if we have to.
Me - It’s not a date.
Xena - Yeah, okay. Because everyone just goes to Marcus when it’s ‘not a date’.
Me - I’m serious. It’s not a date.
I wait a few minutes and she still doesn’t text me back. Bitch.
Me - Not a date. See you later.
Or is it a date?
No, that can’t be.
Can it?
Aiden wouldn’t ask me on a date just to tell me something. Would he? I mean, it’s not like I know him that well. He could be asking me to dinner to tell me he wants to date. Or maybe it’s just to apologize.
That’s probably it. Xena and Devon must have told him why I was still mad, and he realized it will take more than just saying sorry to make up for it. A nice dinner would be a good start. And an explanation.
Because more than anything, I want to know why he came and then immediately ran like he did. I’ll tell you, that did not make me feel good at all.
But I still can’t get him out of my head.
