Nah, it’s just easier for me if I stick to one or two drinks, if I have any at all.
“Hey, listen. I need to get Xena home. She has to work early tomorrow. Do you think you can make sure Rhea gets home safe?” Devon asks. “She lives close enough to walk, but I don’t want her walking alone at this time of the night.” Devon has his arm around Xena, and she’s looking pretty rough too. I’m sure she’s exhausted from getting up too early and drinking a little too much tequila.
“Yeah, sure man. No problem. I’ve got my car here, I can give her a ride.”
“OK, great. You don’t have anyone you need to wait for?”
“Nah, I came here with Johnny because he wanted to spy on Becca, but he ditched me as soon as we walked in. That’s when I saw you guys and came over to talk.” Plus, something keeps drawing me to the woman wearing a picture of me on her tits, but he doesn’t need to know that part.
“Perfect. Get her out of here before she drinks anything else, and see if you can make her drink some water before she goes to bed. You know how those tequila hangovers can be.” He chuckles and leads Xena off to the exit.
Rather than wait here for Rhea to come back, I walk over to meet her at the bar, where I find her talking to some guy. My chest burns when I first catch sight of them, not sure how to feel about her having a conversation with a guy at a bar. Actually, it looks more like he is talking at her, and she is trying to lean away without being too obvious. My breath catches in my throat at her visible discomfort. Can’t this guy tell that he’s freaking her out, getting into her personal space when she obviously doesn’t want him to? I close the distance between us in three long steps, wrapping my arms around her when I get there.
“Hey babe, I missed you and just couldn’t wait anymore.” I kiss her on the temple. “Who the fuck are you?” I say, turning a steely glare toward the guy.
“I was just talking to this chick here. She didn’t mention a boyfriend. Sorry, man. Then again, maybe she’d rather stay here with me?”
My temper builds, my hands becoming fists at my sides, my body preparing to fight. This guy needs to get the hell away from my girl, I mean me, before I make him.
“I’d love to go somewhere and talk,” Rhea says from my side, pulling my arm back around her. “Aiden, baby? Should we go somewhere private andtalk?” She slides a hand into the side of my shirt, rubbing my abs like she can’t get enough of me.
She’s doused the flames of my temper, just like that.Isn’t that interesting? Now if only I could just as easily douse the lust that she’s ignited in me instead. I’m barely able to resist her as it is. Her touching me like this is almost too much for me to handle.
“That is the best idea I’ve heard since I got here. I’ve been wanting to talk to you all night.” I know this is just an act, but the way she’s looking at me through her eyelashes, and the way her hand feels resting against my stomach, I sort of wish it wasn’t.
As though she can read my mind, she slides her hand down to rest at the top of my jeans, fingers slipping just inside the waistband to trace one of the muscles that make up my Adonis belt. A jolt of lust shoots right to my dick, making me instantly hard. I pull her to face me, using the cover of her body to adjust my cock so I don’t make too much of a spectacle of myself.
“You’re playing a dangerous game,” I growl softly in her ear. She’s too good at this act. If she keeps this up, she’ll have me believing she’s actually interested, and it will be that much harder for me to deny my own attraction. “Let’s go.”
She giggles as I take her hand from the front of my pants, lace her fingers with mine, and start walking us to the exit. I take a quick look around for Johnny, but I don’t see him. No big deal. He can find his own way home anyway, if he’s even still here. I have a sneaking suspicion he left with Becca shortly after we arrived, anyway.
“Off so soon?” The bouncer who let us in is still working the door.
“Yeah, man. Just came to drop off Johnny and pick up my girlfriend from her girls’ night. See you around.”
“Aww, am I your girlfriend, Aiden?” she asks. “I’m honoured.”
“No. You’re not my girlfriend,” I tell her. “I don’t date. Ever.”
“Relax,” she says with a laugh. “I was just messing with you.”
I feel a little sick when she says she’s just messing with me, which is clearly stupid. It’s not like I want her to be my girlfriend, so why should I care if she doesn’t want to be?
Rhea holds my hand while I walk her across the street to my car. I unlock the passenger door and open it for her.
“This is your car?” She asks, inspecting my Volvo with a curious gaze. “If you’re really a rock star, why are you driving this station wagon? Seems a little suspicious to me. It’s one step away from a windowless van with ‘free candy’ written on the side.” She snorts out a cute little laugh.
“Haha, you’re hilarious,” I say with a smile. “Get in and I’ll tell you while I drive you home. Devon had to take Xena home, and he asked me to make sure you got home safely, too. Nothing safer than a Volvo.”
“Right. But does that still count when the car is older than you are?”
“Har-har, you’ve got all the jokes tonight. Since when are you a comedian? I’ll have you know this car is barely older than I am. In fact, we’re almost the exact same age.”
“So, what you’re saying is that you’re old too, then?” She laughs.
“Never mind, smartass. Just get in.” I can’t stop the smile from creeping up on my face. Rhea’s funny. I kind of wish she wasn’t, because it makes her so much more appealing. I was having enough trouble keeping my mind off of her.
She slides into the passenger seat and I close the door before making my way to my own side. I take a few deep breaths before getting in, though, because Rhea is really getting to me. This sassiness is adorable, and she’s so fucking hot I can barely stand it. I just need to get her home safely, get some water into her, and then I’m home free.
