“Prez?”

“Yeah, should be enough time. Franklin, a word of warning, the last time someone messed with the club, they got burned. I’d be careful if I were you.”Hound Dog said, ending the call before Franklin could go running his mouth.

“That was a lot easier than I expected. If we had known earlier what it would take for you to fold, we'd have done it sooner.” Franklin chuckled.

“Mr. Abbott, I suggest you watch what you say unless you want to return to your boss with less appendages,” Stray warned him.

I let go of the fucker, reeling in from making him a permanent fixture on the wall.

“Pleasure doing business. At least I know someone from your gym can follow through on an agreement.” Franklin said as he adjusted his suit and cut his eyes to the back of the gym. I glanced in that direction and saw no one was back there.

I still didn’t trust them one bit, but I had to trust that Hound Dog and the club had my back and would do anything for what would need to happen.

The once silent fighters broke apart, watching the group of suits leave the gym, trudging back to their stations. Hank couldn’t help but burst into laughter in pure disbelief. “What the hell was that? I don’t fucking like them, and they had the balls to come in here. I swear I’m getting too old for the dramatics.”

“Shut up, no, you’re not.” I walked up to him, flexing my hands trying to find the feeling back in them. I think the adrenaline did a number on them.

“I feel like Hound has a plan up his sleeve. He’s just not saying anything yet.” Stray shrugged.

The chime from the front door snapped our attention, and it was the best view this side of the Mississippi.

Chapter 34

Amelia

You’d be proud of me. I actually took a day off. Aside from being fucking tired lately, I just needed some space from the hospital. When I texted Melody asking where I could find Shooter since he wasn’t answering his phone, I thought I’d do something cute.

He was always surprising me at work, I thought it would be a turn of events. So, when Melody finally told me where he was, I returned his favor and picked up his favorite gummy bears to snack on. Listen, the man loved his gummy bears, I never understood it.

The sun was out and it just made me want to roll down the windows of the truck and feel the air hit me. The impending summer heat was making an appearance. But it felt good on my skin, the pure warmth of the sun, the open sky, and the excitement of making Shooter smile.

It was true, I had fallen hard for this man, and moments like that where we could be with each other outside of the bedroom just made it easier to fall for him and picture that life that hetalked about. The more he talked about it, the more I saw myself in it.

Though, one thing that made it darker and anxiety didn’t happen until I pulled up to the gym, finding street parking only to find a few men in suits and one face in particular. Tony started walking towards his car. Why was he there in the gym? Did something happen to Shooter? Were they coming after him to get to me? I wasn’t behind on the payments I knew that.

I waited for the cars to disappear, trying to avoid any contact with them. I wasn’t trying to get mixed up in business that wasn’t mine. I was more worried about Shooter. Seeing them walk away from the gym hit in the pit of my stomach. Nausea hits.

As soon as they disappeared, I unclicked my seatbelt, bolting, tugging along my bag to the gym. A wave of relief rushed over me when my tall, handsome, rugged man stood there in just a tank top and gray sweatpants. Glistening sweat covered his body, and when I walked in the door, he flashed a wide smile. I could see it more, as the man had somehow, whenever got his beard trimmed, not too short but enough that I could see more of his facial features.

Damn, I just wanted him more.

Damn horny ass woman.

Shooter darted toward me, gathering me in his arms, lifting me off the ground. His strong arms made me feel like I was nothing.

“Now, this is the best thing all day.” he whispered in my ear.

“Give me a kiss, sugar,” I purred.

He pulled away, brushing against my nose.

“I think that’s my line.”

“You still haven’t kissed me yet.” I ghosted over his lips, biting my lower lip.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, pressing harder against him. He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss on my lips, the one thatkind of tingles and leaves you wanting more. I tangled my hand in his hair, yanking him closer to me, deepening into the hungry kiss that I had been craving.

His tongue slipped in me, taking over the power of the kiss. He adjusted his hands to palm my ass and lifted me even higher, making me wrap my legs around him.
