“Fuck me like you mean it, like you belong to me,” he says.

In no time, that’s what I did.

As we stalk back to the main area, we avoid anyone’s eye contact with a cocky grin plastered on our faces. My phone in my back pocket buzzes. I’ve been meaning to check in with Lilly, but with everything going on, I’ve haven’t been able to.

The hustle and bustle of the main room buzzes, drowning out the racing heartbeat in my chest. The phone lights up my face, showing that the bluff is being challenged.

Unknown:The teacher likes her apples. Isn’t that right grim bitch?

I might as well be dragged to hell now.

Chapter 46

Lottie

“Thatdidn’tlastlong,”Memphis remarks, sitting around the table, as we all look at the phone like it was a planted device.

Cedric avoids any eye contact, the moment he reads the message, his body starts to tremble, anxiously repeating that he has to end this.

“Lottie, what are we gonna do?” Finn asks me, he’s been away for too long, and it’s not enough time to call a church meeting.

I look at Tessa, “You think Shiloh still has her contacts with witness protection?”

“Last time I called her late at night, I may have interrupted something. I don’t want to chance it,” Tessa throws up her hands.

“It’s worth a shot,” I suggest. She shakes her head, “She’ll be our last resort.”

I glance at Rawlings, his straight face holds back something, but I can’t put my finger on it.

A light bulb turns on, “Topaz.” I rushed over to her, “You can get him out, like you did the families?” taking her hands into mine, waiting for an answer.

Easy enough, we get him out of here, away from the compound in case they go looking for him again, plotting anything back to the compound.

If we were able to get the families to safety why not Cedric. Topaz chews on her bottom lip, “Ain’t that easy sugar, we barely had enough to get families in the safe havens now. We have to ask ourselves, are we willing to risk the Falcons finding them?”

Putting more people at risk, the chance that the Falcons would be smarter in this.

“Rawlings, tell me we considered an alternative?” Jackson leans over the bar top, Tessa standing next to him.

I gather we’re back to thinking at the seat of our pants? I slouch onto a nearby chair. My brain tries to rattle through contingency plans, thinking of any connections. Brayden might be able to help connect with some of the schools. I think one of the schools may have an old storm shelter or basement, somewhere they won’t come looking.

Hiding him at the shelter would put every client at risk, taking him to his home would be redundant, taking him out of state would be a hassle but plausible.

“What about a brother or cousin club?” I rush out my words.

D.R and Sparky hold back a laugh, snorting almost.

“Keola, you screw her brains out that much? I know you’re a greedy fucker but still,” Sparky cracks a joke, but Keola responds with a smack at the back of his head. “Watch it, prospect,” he growls.

“I’m talking about another affiliation?” I reiterate, explaining my other thoughts.

“Like another chapter?” Memphis furthers my thoughts. I touch my nose with my finger, he understands.

The murmurs grow as the conversation sparks something, Rawlings sits, kicking his feet on the table. He folds his arm for a moment, thinking. For a moment, he considers it.

“Might be a lot of favors to call in, maybe in debt to one,” he mutters.

Cedric says something but it's too low to register.
