“Nah. I mean not yet. But one day I’ll meet her,” she smiles, sipping on her beer. The optimism in her awe inspiring.
“I’m glad you could make it,” Tessa’s voice shouts. “Looks like he agrees.”
I crack a smile, “I think I made the right choice.”
A booming voice comes behind, “It’s cute that you think you had a say in it.” Before I can say something, he pulls me into his lap.
“Of course I had a choice.”
He just smirks. “Of course, angel.”
Smug bastard.
“I see that Finn is enjoying himself,” Jackson points out.
I turn and see the bright smile on his face, the kids are playing cornhole. And with a loud thunderous boom fireworks start shooting off early in the night. Color exploding pouring out luminous light.
Conversations keep happening around us; we all get lost in each other's thoughts and rants. Tessa nestles under Jackson's grasp, I can see the happiness in her eyes and sheer love they have for each other. These men that we fall in love with may appear to have a dangerous lifestyle but the one thing that will never change that's the way that they hold us and protect us with every fiber of their being.
“I’m happy to see that your senses have come to you,” Tessa smiles.
“More like she put the poor man out of his misery,” D.R jokes from across the way.
Keola scoffs, “I wasn’t in misery.” The slightest bit of grouchiness starts to brew.
“Oh no, just pissed off that you weren’t getting your way,” Memphis chimes in. “You should have seen him in the beginning, mumbling to himself, brooding in the corners, you setting off his short fuses.”
“I wasn’t fucking brooding!” he bellows.
“Awe honey. Were you pouting that I didn’t simply fall at your feet?” I tease him.
He grasps the back of my neck, applying pressure, his warning, what if I kept pushing his buttons. “I’ll make you fall to your knees if you keep up that sass.” He whispers.
In turn, I blush at the thought.
“Jesus angel, that turned you on didn’t it?”
“You’ll never know.” I toss my drink back.
His other hand travels to my thigh, gripping it, claiming it.
“I’ll find out.” He kisses my cheek. Please do.
I fail to see one man, although aggravating, is missing.
“Where’s your fearless leader?” I asked.
Jackson speaks up, “He’s um, taking care of business before coming here.”
Tessa’s hiding something, they both are, but won’t tell.
Topaz leans over, “All will be revealed in the end. Trust me nothing stays hidden before too long.”
“You should know, you’re the club gossip,” D.R laughs, his deep chuckle.
Keola’s hand softly traces the outline of my back, goosebumps form under his touch. I quietly moan, the sensation so intoxicating.
“Excuse yourself, and go down the hallway. I need to rectify something that someone has been teasing for the past few minutes.” He rumbles. All I can do is nod my head, hiding my smile.
