“This is not an invitation to be more of a brat than you already are.”
She grins at me before following Bella.
“We’ll see.”
She takes us into a large dining room, and everyone is already seated at the table. Carter points to an empty seat.
“Little Heathen.”
Heather sits beside him, and I fight down my annoyance and take the vacant spot beside Reaper.
Bianca smiles nervously as she waves her hand over the table.
“I hope you like chicken parmigiana. It’s Raven's favorite, and I wasn’t sure what you’d like. Just because you’re Italian doesn’t mean you’d want Italian food. I should’ve made something else.” She stammers endlessly as Raven grabs her hand and squeezes it.
“It smells delicious, Pretty Girl, don’t overthink it.”
Clearing my throat, I nod.
“This is one of our favorites. Thank you.”
The truth is, I don’t want to eat breaded chicken with the fight so close, but I don’t want her to be offended, so I’ll eat a small portion.
My brothers pile their plates more than I do. I cover half of mine with the green salad and opt for a ranch dressing since it’s lower in carbs. I’m not always obsessed with my diet, but a fight like this is important to take seriously, and carbohydrates tend to make you sluggish. My goal is to be in the best shape possible.
“Oh my God,” Bella says, “I didn’t even introduce you. This is Hadley, Psycho's wife.”
Heather smiles politely.
“It’s nice to meet you, Hadley.”
The conversation mainly revolves around Heather asking Bianca about her pregnancy. I wonder if this is a trigger for her since she can’t have children.
“Do you have kids?” Heather asks Hadley, and she pulls out her phone and hands it over.
“This is Kane. He’s wild like his father.” She says with a smirk as she glances at Psycho affectionately.
After handing Hadley her phone back, Heather takes a bite of her food and glances at Bella, clearly wondering if she and Reaper have children.
She excitedly scrolls through pictures on her phone before giving it to Heather.
“We have two sons. Maddox and Axel.”
Heather stares at the image on the phone before handing it back.
“Twins. Multiples obviously run in the family. Reaper and Raven, you are twins too, right?”
Raven shakes his head as everyone laughs.
“We aren’t. Reaper and I share the same father, but we have different mothers.”
There are subtle differences between them that I can easily spot aside from the facial hair Reaper has, but they really do look very alike.
“Are you ready for tomorrow?” Reaper asks as I finish my salad.
I nod, assuming he’s referring to meeting with Bones, and he adds, “Bones mentioned he’d like a drawing of the warehouse, including all entrances and exits.”
I hadn’t given much thought to it, but it’s a reasonable request.
