What. The. Fuck?
Where would she get an idea like that from?
Spinning, he strode back to where she still sat on the counter. Spreading her legs wide, he cupped the back of her head and took her mouth in a deep kiss that made him instantly hard.
Fuck, he wanted her.
When he drew back, she had her eyes closed, her mouth parted and her pink lips were glistening.
“Do you think I give a fuck about that? No. I hate that that fucker hurt you. That he took your first experience and that he forced you.”
“How do you know he forced me?” she whispered.
“Don’t play those games with us,” North ordered. “We know that he did. Your father sold you to him.”
She closed her eyes and nodded. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I should just say it for what it was. What my therapist helped me to see. He raped me. I was a virgin when he raped me, took that from me.”
“That fucker didn’t deserve to die easily,” Jared told her. “And if I could, I’d kill him slowly and painfully for you. But I can’t do that. Just like I can’t turn back time and make it so that you were never hurt. That he never did any of those things to you. I hate that you’ve never had a different experience other than what he did to you.”
“I had done other things before,” she said. “With my boyfriend at the time.”
“You had a boyfriend?” North asked in a casual voice.
One that Jared didn’t buy at all.
North drew one of his knives out and started to twirl it in the air.
“Um. Yes.” Angie watched him warily.
“What was his name?” North asked.
Shit. He wasn’t buying the disinterest in North’s voice at all.
“Why?” she asked.
Hmm. Jared was surprised she felt suspicious as well.
Did she realize that North wouldn’t ask unless he was very, very interested in the answer?
“I just want to know. And when I want to know something, you tell me,” North ordered.
“You are so freaking bossy. You know you’re not in charge of me, right?”
“Oh, but I am. You’re my charge,” North explained.
“Why? Because you kidnapped me?” she asked in a high-pitched voice.
“Exactly. Until you go back to Zander, you’re under my protection. That means you do what I say.”
“Actually,” Jared interjected before she could say anything else. “I believe she’s under my protection.” He shot North a warning look as he attempted to speak. “Fine. Ours. But you both do what I say.”
North narrowed his gaze as he stared at Jared. A telling move. He wasn’t happy with his words. Even though he knew they were true.
North would do what Jared told him to do.
“Then, oh powerful one, tell her to give me the name.”
Jared grasped hold of the back of North’s head,. So now he was holding onto both of them.
