Felix squeals and claps his hands, but then abruptly stops. “Areyouokay with this? We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”

Seeing how happy it made him is too much to resist. “I’m good with it.”

Felix squeals again, then says, “And if you’re not having fun, we can leave. No pressure to stay.”

“I’ll be good,” I assure him with a smile.

“It’s really sweet of you to take me. I’m excited.”

My anxiety about the party disappears when I hear thosewords. Making Felix happy brings me a level of joy I didn’t know I could experience.

So, why the hell can’t I say it?

Chapter 34

Felix

After throwing up at a fundraising event, my schedule really opened up, leaving me with a lot more time for me to pick up extra shifts atMaggie’s.

Gilda stands next to me, wrapping silverware in napkins while I spoon fruit cocktail into little glass bowls. “You’re going to Tobias Kay’s Halloween Party? You’ll have to tell me all about the trouble you and Torren get up to on Monday.”

“A lady never shares her secrets,” I drawl with a raised brow.

“Oh, to hell with that!” Gilda puts her hands on her hips, glaring at me. “I want to live vicariously through you. I want pictures, damnit. Specifically of Torren’s ding-a-ling.”

“Ding-a-ling?”

Maggie yells from her office, like a withered old troll in her cave. “You’re a dirty girl, Gilda!”

“Oh, come on! Like you’re not curious?” Gilda screams back at Maggie.

“Not in the slightest! I’ve known Torren since he was a kid, and I don’t want to know nothin’ about his willy wang.”

I bark out a laugh and ask, “Ding-a-ling? Willy wang? Youtwo throw the F-word around like it’s a baseball, but you won’t say dick?”

“Penises are ridiculous and deserve ridiculous names,” Gilda explains while pointing her finger at me.

“That’s true,” Maggie adds.

My face honestly hurts from smiling so much. Maggie and Gilda are honestly the best, and I’m just so grateful I got my job back.

I need people like this in my life.

Torren

I slow my bike and turn into the alley that leads to theKitty Cat Club. The theme of the party is “fluid.” Which is not a theme, in my humble opinion, but whatever.

When I heard it, I immediately assumed “fluid,” as in liquid, and tried to imagine Tobias filling the club with water.

I wouldn’t put it past him.

But Felix showing up in a pair of high-heeled black stiletto boots and a black corsette quickly corrected me.

Oh,thatkind of fluid.

I almost mounted him right there in my shop.

He’s wearing fishnets again with no shorts, just a chainmail thong, his asscheeks visible through the stockings, and I’ve come to realize that Felix wearing women’s lingerie and stockings is the hottest thing on the planet.
