Mmm, okay, Ross.I liked that. “Your friends will be okay?”
He shrugged and said, “I have no idea where they are, but they have my number if they need me.”
I wanted to leave, and I wanted Ross to take me. I’d played it safe all my life.
It was time for me to have a little fun.
“Okay. Let’s get out of here.”
Chapter 21
Rafael
I was about to push away from whatshername when I saw Cody passing the sea of undulating bodies with a dude who looked to be about six feet three inches tall and weighed around two hundred fifty pounds of muscle.
I’d met everyone on the Vipers, so I knew he wasn’t part of the team. They didn’t look chummy. Things looked…off. I didn’t like it.
They made their way to the front door, and, right before they left, doofus whispered something into Cody’s ear that made him blush.
Blush?
Oh no.
Cody’s Bambi-like eyes locked with that fucking caveman’s and he released a dazzling smile that made my stomach clench.
Oh, fuck me.
I wasn’t an idiot. Doofus was flirting, and Cody was taking the bait.
As they left, doofus’s hand wrapped around Cody’s shoulder.
That’s when my eyes turned to flames, and smoke shot out of my ears.
Mother fucker!
I plowed through the dancing idiots, reaching the front door, and screaming Cody’s name as I ran out of the house and onto the front lawn. He was already sitting in that big asshole’s car.
They sped off, and I fucking bolted after the them.
Oh, hell no!
The car picked up speed, but I didn’t relent. Everything I ever learned in hockey kicked into high gear as the thought of Cody and that dude swirled in my mind.
Slut! My slut! Mine!
Why else would he be with a random dude in said random dude’s car? Were they running out to grab more mixers? Doing a burger run for the drunks in the pool? I highly fucking doubted it. No, he was about to do something that would make me spontaneously combust because he was trying to get back at me.
I screamed for Cody to get the fuck out of the car. My legs pumped, and my chest heaved.
Go faster. Get him.
Oh, I was mad. Mad as a fucking hornet. I didn’t mean to piss him off! The one time in my life I didn’t intentionally try to hurt Cody, and he was about to ride that Jolly Green Giant like a fucking pony! The bile crept up my throat. I couldn’t let that happen.
I’m the only dude who can touch Cody!
I knew I was being a fucking hypocrite considering I made out with a chick right in front of Cody’s face, but that was different. Or at least it felt different in my twisted, warped mind.
I was trying to stop myself from exposing us. He, on the other hand, was about to do something for real. It wasn’t about keeping up appearances. No, he wanted to fuck around with that guy.
