I chuckled as I glanced at Bailey. His subtle nod was all I needed to see.
“We’re sure. Bailey and I are aligned with this. We want you here. Stay, okay?”
Kaleb turned toward Bailey, who nodded and grinned. “We’d love to have you both stay.”
My brother grinned. “We’ll stay. Thank you for asking.”
I’d only been happier hearing that Bailey would marry me. I had the feeling that my life would be full, and I’d never felt that way before.
We ordered pizzas—a cheese for Jay and a supreme for the rest of us. We sat at the kitchen table and laughed over stories Kaleb and I shared with Jay and Bailey. It was beautiful to share stories with my brother and his son.
As we finished, Jay turned to me. “Uncle Jagger, can we play with my heroes?”
That was the best thing I’d ever heard. “You bet, Jay.”
I turned to Bailey, who gave me a huge grin. “Go. I’ll clean up.”
Having my brother and nephew at our home was an incredible turn I hadn’t expected. Bailey, the man whom I loved with all my heart, was there beside me. I couldn’t ask for anything more than that.
“Uncle Jag, come on.” I was certain Jay would be as stubborn, inquisitive, and incredible as I’d ever hoped to be. He would be my legacy, and I was more than happy about it.
I turned to Kaleb. “Is it okay if I go sit and play with him?” I held my breath as I waited for my brother’s answer.
“Are you kidding? He thinks you’re a superhero. Go.”
I went into the living room and sat on the floor next to Jay. He was definitely a Hansen. That blond hair gave him away, just as Kaleb’s blond hair took me back to when we were kids.
“You want to hang around here for a few days? We can go check out some fun places.”
My nephew’s face lit up. “I wanna check out some fun places.”
Life threw things at us that never made sense, I was sure. Having my brother and my nephew in my life was amazing.
I was being given the chance to watch my nephew grow into the amazing man I was sure he’d become and have Bailey by my side while doing it. I considered myself a lucky man.
