Kitty rolled her eyes. “You have pack life written all over you.”
“Do you not want a pack?” I asked, unsure what she meant.
“Right now, I’m happier being a free agent.” Diamond turned to face me. “But you’re a romantic. I can tell these things.”
“Well, not anymore,” I said with a shrug. “I thought maybe… But anyway, nothing’s going to happen.”
“They all turn out to be assholes in the end,” Kitty said, her jaw clenched and eyes shadowy with memory. “The longer you know them, the worse they get. Better to not get involved.”
“That’s not true,” Diamond said with a snort. “Don’t turn her against the idea. Westin’s stunning enough to catch a great pack.”
“Not saying she’s not,” Kitty said. “But you can’t trust alphas.” She raked her eyes over my body, her gaze too knowing. “Sometimes we have to learn that the hard way.”
I averted my gaze.
“Or maybe you already did.” She pursed her lip.
“Well fuck,” Diamond said. “I’m going out there and leaving this depressing conversation behind.” She turned on her heel and flounced out of the dressing room.
Kitty sighed. “Want some?” She gestured at the coke. “A gift from me for your broken heart.”
It’d been years since I’d done any, but I desperately wanted something to take me out of how I was feeling. “You sure?”
She rolled her eyes and handed me a small piece of white paper. I took it, rolling it up before I could second-guess myself.
I caught my reflection in the mirror as I leaned over the counter. My eyes were bright with the thrill of taking a risk, and I felt more alive than I had in days. The drug hit me like a burst of light, flooding my body with pure energy. I turned back to Kitty. “Thanks. I needed that.”
“Sure. Well, have fun.” She made a sweeping motion to the door and I pulled it open, ready to get on the dance floor.
This time, the music pulsed through my veins in time with my heartbeat. I slipped onto the dance floor, the hot crush of bodies surrounding me. I threw my head back, my hair trailing down my back as I swayed my hips.
“Westin?”
I heard my name above the music and whirled around, giggling as the room spun around me.
“Westin.”
The owner of the voice was right in front of me. I looked up and gasped when I saw Bear.
A very pissed-off Bear.
“Hi,” I squealed, throwing my arms around him. “Are you here to dance with me?”
His arms wrapped around me tight, pulling me flush to his body as he practically dragged me off the dance floor and into a dark corner. I pressed my face into his neck, breathing in his smoky leather and whiskey.
“What are you doing here?” He cupped my face tightly.
“What areyoudoing?” I shot back.
A growl rumbled through his chest as he pressed me against the wall, his body shielding me from the rest of the room. “A couple guys from the shop were coming and invited me.”
I narrowed my eyes. “So you came to hook up with someone.”
His silence was all the answer I needed. Jealousy surged through me, and my omega pushed to the forefront. I wished I could scent-mark him so everyone else would stay away.
“Can I tell you a secret?” I asked, planting kisses down his throat.
“Of course, baby.” His hands moved further down my back until they were right above my ass. I wished he would move them lower.
