“Okay,” I huffed. “My head hurts a bit, but I can still skate. Promise.”
In reality, my head was hurting pretty badly, but I wouldn’t let that stop me from having fun.
Gray looked unconvinced, but he gestured to the car. I grinned and skipped by him, getting in the passenger seat before he could tell me to get in the back.
“I thoughtyou said you were good at this.” Gray ran his hand through his hair in a distinctly stressed way.
“Are you insulting me?” I shouted over my shoulder, letting out a little scream as I almost fell. Luckily, there was a parked car in front of me and I slammed my hands against it to come to a stop.
Then Gray was at my side. “You are the worst skater I’ve ever seen.”
I scowled at him. “That’s rude.”
“And you have shit balance.”
I reached out to shove him but lost my balance and almost fell. Gray’s arms wrapped around my waist, holding me tightly. Time seemed to stop and it took everything in me not to completely melt into his embrace. Maybe it was my imagination, but being close to him seemed to ease the pain in my head slightly. His scent washed over me and I had to resist pressing my face into his neck. I wished I still had a scent so I could mark him and let everyone know he was mine.
“You alright?” He released me, hovering his arms around me in case I lost my balance again.
I nodded, unable to meet his eyes. Gray could never be mine. After the stalker was caught, he’d go back to his life. The thought put a lump in my throat and skating no longer seemed as appealing.
A rumbling noise caught my attention. A motorcycle slowed before pulling into the parking lot. Gray stepped in front of me in a protective move that made me feel warm inside.
Get it together, Westin. This is literally his job.
The biker pulled into a spot next to the building and removed his helmet.
“Oh my gosh,” I said, peering around Gray. “Bear!”
“What are you doing?” Gray asked, trying to push me back behind him, but I dodged him and started skating towards Bear.
The tattooed alpha scowled as he turned to face me, looking particularly hot in his dark jeans and leather jacket, but his eyes softened when he saw me.
“Westin?”
“Hi.” My voice was breathless as I grabbed Bear’s arms and came to a stop. “What are you up to? I’m practicing my skating.”
“I can see that,” he said, grinning. “And you’re wearing your helmet. Good girl.”
I would wear a helmet whenever I skated if Bear kept calling me a good girl.
Gray’s footsteps sounded behind me and Bear tensed as he took him in.
“Fuck, Westin, you can’t run away from me,” Gray growled, placing his hands on my hips. The heat of his touch, even through my jeans, was enough to make me wonder if I would spontaneously combust.
“But I know Bear.” I mustered up my best contrite expression to appease Gray. He did not seem impressed.
My body was rejoicing at beingalmostsandwiched between these alphas.
“Who is this?” Bear asked through gritted teeth, his fingers twitching.
“This is Gray, my bodyguard. He also said I had to wear a helmet,” I said with a pout.
“Why the fuck do you need a bodyguard?” Bear wrapped his hand around my wrist. His fingers were warm and strong against my skin, and I wondered what it would feel like to be wrapped in his arms.
I tried to think of an explanation that wouldn’t sound too… dramatic.
“There was just an incident and it seemed safer to have a bodyguard.”
