We all stared at her.

“Does that seriously work on alphas?” Clementine muttered.

“They’re simple creatures,” Poppy said, twirling the end of her hair.

“Oh my god, I sent it,” Josie said with a small shriek. She gripped the phone tight, her panicked eyes meeting ours. “They’re typing something back.”

We all moved in closer. Then Josie’s expression transformed into one of confusion. “They’re asking if I want them to bring me food.”

Poppy snorted a laugh. “Oh boy, this might be harder than I thought. Tell them you’re in the mood to eat something else.”

“Put a winky face emoji or something,” I added.

Josie typed the message and then rolled her eyes. “Ben just asked if I want him to make mac and cheese. This is hopeless.”

“Give me that,” Poppy said.

“No,” Josie responded, holding the phone out of Poppy’s reach. “You’ll send something unhinged. Westin,” she said, turning towards me. “You help me.”

“Me?”

“Yes, before they barge in here with trays of food.” Josie handed me her phone.

“Wait, no, I like that option,” Clementine said. “Ben makes the best mac and cheese. Tell him we’re all hungry.”

“Save me, please,” Josie begged.

I threw her an exasperated look, tapping my fingers against the screen as I decided what to write. I typed up a message but didn’t send it, handing the phone back to her.

“Oh my god,” Josie said, her eyes wide as she looked at me. “You did not just write that.”

“Let me see,” Poppy said.

Clementine moved to read the message over Poppy’s shoulder, and then they passed the phone to Charlie.

“Holy shit,” Charlie said. “That’s some advanced stuff.”

“Westin, you’ve been holding out on us,” Poppy said. “It’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?”

“We all need to be taking notes from you.” Charlie held the phone out to Josie.

“You’re exaggerating,” I said, my cheeks heating.

“We definitely aren’t,” Josie said, taking the phone back. Then a horrified look came over her face. “No, no, no,” she said, looking up at us in panic. “I sent it!” She threw the phone down on the mat as if it were a grenade.

“It’s okay,” I said with a chuckle. “It’s not like they’re going to be upset.”

“I just told my alphas I was starving for their cum and needed them to fill me over and over and then feed it to me, and you think it’s okay?” Josie shrieked.

Clementine and Charlie burst out laughing, and I couldn’t stop my smile. Moments like this, where I felt connected to my new friends, felt like magic. My high school friendships had all been pretty shallow, focused more on drinking, partying, and fucking. I didn’t think any of them had even known my parents were dead. I was slowly letting these women get to know me.

I turned to Clementine as Josie continued freaking out. “Are you seeing anyone?” I asked her quietly.

She shook her head. “I don’t know that dating is for me,” she said softly.

I nodded. I didn’t know much about her life, but I certainly understood that.

“I don’t know if I’m brave enough to send something like that,” Charlie said, fidgeting with her wheelchair.
