The tightness in my chest eased as I reminded myself of her words.

She loved me.

She wasn’t going anywhere.

She was mine.

GRAY

The email I’d been waiting for hit my inbox.

My heart raced as I opened the document my friend sent over. My rage grew with each page until I could barely see the words on the screen.

This was beyond anything I’d expected.

I glanced over at Westin from my spot at the dining room table. She was on the couch between Henry and Liam. Liam looked a hundred times more relaxed than yesterday, and Westin was all soft and snuggly. For a moment, the urge to protect her from the truth was so intense I considered not telling her. She would kill me for even having the thought, and I knew she deserved to know. But fucking hell, she deserved better than all of this.

I took the laptop and moved to the living room. Westin held her hand out to me and I knew she wanted me to sit in front of her so she could play with my hair. I forced myself to sit on the coffee table instead, because the second her hand was on me, my resolve to tell her would crumble.

She must have seen something in my gaze, or smelled it in my scent, because her expression changed to one of concern andshe sat up straighter. Henry frowned at me now that she was no longer lying against his chest.

“What’s wrong?”

I took a deep breath. “When your uncles pulled their shit with the Sol police and the news, I started investigating them.” I ran my hand along the back of my neck. “At first, I just wanted to uncover something to get back at them, but I found a lot more.”

“What did you find?” She leaned forward. Bear, who had been making a sandwich, left the kitchen to stand behind Westin’s seat on the couch.

“My friend is a hacker, and he was able to get their bank statements and email communications. Your uncles are struggling for money. They made a series of bad investments, and I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of them has a gambling problem. It looks like they formed a business partnership with Pack Cross.”

Westin bit her lip and I forced myself to continue.

“It looks like they might not have had enough capital for the investment, so they…” I trailed off, fucking hating this next part. “They included you in the agreement.”

Liam’s arm tightened around our omega, and Bear swore. Henry’s eyes were wide and he kept looking between me and Westin.

“They included me in their business deal? Like… they wanted to sell me?” she asked, her voice shaky.

I leaned forward and put my hand on her knee. “Yes, princess. But they knew they couldn’t force you to be with them now that the laws had changed, so they got desperate. The stalker notes you got never made sense to me, and neither did the attack, and that’s because none of it was real.”

“I didn’t make it up,” Westin said quickly, trying to pull away from my touch. She looked around at the others. “I promise I didn’t.”

“No, Westin, love, that’s not what I’m saying.” I set the laptop to the side and moved closer to her, cupping her face. “Listen to me. I know you didn’t make it up. I’m saying yourunclesdid. They wrote those notes, and when that wasn’t enough to scare you into being with Pack Cross, they hired that alpha to attack you. Based on their emails, it sounds like Pack Cross was supposed to stop the attack and come out looking like saviors or something, but Theo and Josie got there before them.”

The other alphas were growling, but I kept my eyes on my omega, running my thumb gently across her cheek. Westin’s face was blank and then all of a sudden, she burst out laughing.

I met Liam’s confused gaze. He shrugged and turned back to Westin, who had fallen back on the couch as she continued laughing hysterically.

I had no clue what to make of our omega’s reaction.

“The letters,” she got out between peals of laughter.

“What?” I asked, utterly bewildered.

“Oh my god,” she gasped. “That’s the best thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Did you understand what I said?” I asked. Was she confused? I couldn’t find anything funny about her own family hiring someone to fucking attack her.
