“Brat,” I said, pulling her tight to my body and moving my hand to her ass in warning.
She just giggled and kissed me. “So?”
Just the thought of getting on a carnival ride made me queasy, and part of me wanted to demand my omega stay firmly on the ground. But she deserved to have fun, and I would keep an eye on things from the ground.
“I’ll stick to watching,” I said dryly.

HENRY
After we’d eaten, I held Westin’s hand as we walked through the crowds. The alphas surrounded us and successfully parted the sea of people as we explored various booths. My fair experience was infinitely better with my omega at my side, although I eyed the Ferris wheel skeptically as we passed it.
Carnival music blared around us, and the last pinks and oranges in the sky gave way to black as night fell. Westin was full of energy, and I was grateful she was having fun after the doctor’s appointment. This was probably a good distraction for all of us. Otherwise, we’d be sitting at the house anxiously thinking about all the tests she would have done tomorrow. And obsessing about how to get back at her uncles.
“Oh, look,” Westin said, pointing at a small purple tent with a sign that saidTarot Readings. She looked up at me and squeezed my hand. “We should get a reading done.”
I tried unsuccessfully to stop myself from cringing. “Not sure I’m into fortune telling.”
“Tarot isn’t fortune telling,” Westin said. “It’s about connecting to the wisdom of the universe and gaining insights about yourself and your life.”
“Sounds like fortune-telling to me,” I said.
A smile tugged at Westin’s lips. “Come on, let’s give it a try.”
I looked around at the alphas. “Maybe someone else wants to go?”
“Oh no,” Bear said, giving me a push towards the tent. “The universe has selected you.”
I resisted the urge to flip him off.
“You don’t have to,” Westin said, her big brown eyes meeting mine. Fuck, I couldn’t say no to her.
“No, you should get a reading, and I’ll join you,” I said.
Westin grinned before turning towards the tent, and I had a feeling she knew just how much power she held over all of us.
We entered the tent and were greeted by an old woman with gray hair piled on top of her head, flowing purple robes with a celestial pattern, and wrists full of gold and silver bangles. The air was stuffy with incense that burned my nose.
“She looks like a fortune teller,” I muttered.
Westin elbowed me in the side before smiling brilliantly at the old woman. “We’d like a reading.”
I cleared my throat, earning an eye roll from Westin.
“Fine,” she said. “Iwould like a reading.”
“Well then, have a seat.” The fortuneteller pointed to velvet cushions on the floor by a low table. Her eyes raked over me and she smiled widely.
We settled on the cushions and I put my arm around Westin’s waist.
“You are familiar with the cards?” the woman asked her. “Because they are familiar with you.”
“I am,” Westin said softly.
“Very good. I will pull a set of four and we shall see what message the universe has for you.”
I reached for Westin’s hand, holding it firmly under the table.
