Bear rolled his eyes. “Dick measuring contest. Just leave them to it.”

I followed Bear inside, looking behind my shoulder at the two glaring alphas. They’d been getting along better since I put them in their place after their fight in the gym, but now the tension was building again. A sense of desperation filled me. More and more, I’d been thinking about all of us as a pack, but having two of my alphas fighting made me feel like I wasn’t a good enough omega to bring us all together.

Henry walked in the door behind me, carrying a large box. “We finally have space for you to use the stuff we bought at the store,” he said, leaning in to kiss my cheek before headinginto the main bedroom. I followed him, my omega itching to go through all the blankets and pillows.

Bear was already in the room, setting my two suitcases by the bed. The bedroom had a king bed in the center—not big enough for all of us to sleep in, but maybe I could share with two of my guys tonight. My omega demanded the guys find a way for all of us to sleep together, but after witnessing Gray and Liam’s tiff, I wasn’t brave enough to bring it up.

Heavy footsteps sounded through the house, and I turned in time to see Liam crash into the bedroom, breathing heavily. He looked at Henry, eyes wild. “There’s two police officers here. They’re investigating a tip they received about us kidnapping Westin.”

“What?” Henry, Bear, and I said at the same time.

“Gray’s with them now,” Liam said, glancing over his shoulder towards the front door. “Your uncles made a report that we’ve kidnapped you.”

“This is not happening,” I said, feeling dizzy.

Bear’s firm arms wrapped around me from behind. “Let’s just all go out there and we’ll figure this out.”

I gripped his arms. “Don’t let them take me away.”

He turned me in his arms and softly kissed my forehead. I nuzzled into his neck, breathing in his scent. “That’s not going to happen. Promise.”

“Okay,” I said, not believing my own words. I took in another breath before pulling away. “Let’s go.”

Henry took the lead while Bear and Liam surrounded me. Their massive bodies calmed my racing heart.

“Good afternoon, officers,” Henry said as he walked out the front door.

Gray stood next to two male police officers wearing uniforms similar to the Sol immigration officers’. One was an older alphawith gray hair and a thick mustache, and the other was a younger beta with dark brown hair.

“Are you Westin Anderson?” the younger officer asked, trying to peer around Liam’s wide body to get a look at me.

Liam tensed, but I entwined my fingers with his and stepped up beside him. “I’m Westin,” I said calmly, even though rage and fear were pumping through my chest in equal measure. “What is this about?”

“Hi, Ms. Anderson,” the older officer said. “My name is Officer Edwards, and my partner is Officer O’Brien. We received a troubling report about an omega being kidnapped and taken into Sol, and our interstate pact with Luna on omega safety means we need to investigate.” He at least had the decency to look slightly uncomfortable.

“I already had interviews with the Luna and Sol agents this morning when we crossed the border. I am here on my own free will, visiting my packmate’s family.”

“How do we know they’re not forcing you to say this?” Officer O’Brien said, looking around at my guys. Bear’s low growl vibrated through me.

“How do you know my uncles aren’t really the abusive ones?” I snapped.

Officer Edwards looked genuinely concerned. “Have your uncles harmed you?”

“They want to force me to be with two old alpha friends of theirs, but I don’t want that. I just want to be with my chosen pack.”

“Maybe we should take her to the precinct for more questions,” Officer O’Brien said quietly.

I met Officer Edwards’s gaze. Tears were building in my eyes, and they weren’t fake this time. “Please don’t make me do that,” I pleaded.

“No, I don’t think that will be necessary,” he said kindly. He looked at my guys, who had formed a protective semi-circle around me, and then returned his gaze to me, now with a small smile on his lips. “You remind me of my pack when we were young. I’ll write down that we didn’t find any truth to the allegations in the report.” He pulled a card from his breast pocket and handed it to me. “Don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything, Ms. Anderson.”

“Thank you,” I said, slipping his card into my pocket. Then, a sick realization washed over me. “How did you know I was here?” Were my uncles tracking me somehow?

“The border agents had Mr. Williams’s address on file,” Officer Edwards said. “It’s part of the registration process when you enter the province.”

“So my uncles don’t know where I am?” I asked.

Officer Edwards’s brow furrowed. “If they do, it’s not from us.”
