“That doesn’t even make sense,” she said, but her lips curved up in a smile.
Bear just squeezed her ass and pulled the door open.
“Let me go in first,” I said, holding Westin back.
“You know you’re not my bodyguard anymore?” she asked, pursing her lips.
I muttered under my breath as I walked into the dimly lit building. It didn’t matter if I was her bodyguard in name or not. It would be my job to guard her until the day I died.
The place was dimly lit and practically empty. A pimply teenager manned the front desk, and an old man sat in the music booth. Flashing disco lights illuminated the empty rink.
Hands cupped my butt and squeezed tight, causing me to jump slightly. “All safe?” Westin asked.
I whirled around to face her. “There are plenty of dark corners to spank you, princess. Tread carefully.”
My omega’s eyes sparkled as the disco balls cast rainbow flashes of light across her skin. “Is that a threat or a promise?”
“Let’s get out of this hallway before you two start fucking,” Liam grumbled, pulling Westin away and heading to the front desk where Henry was paying for our tickets.
I’d never gone skating in any form before, and I wasn’t looking forward to making a fool of myself in front of everyone. I grimaced as Henry handed me a pair of disgusting looking skates.
I sat on a bench and started untangling the mass of knots in the laces.
“I don’t think alphas are meant to be on skates,” Liam muttered, sitting down next to me.
“Definitely not,” I said. “But look how happy she is.”
Westin had gotten her skates on and was heading to the rink with Bear. After the stress of the border crossing earlier today, I would do pretty much anything to make her smile.
“Welcome to disco night,” the old beta in the DJ booth said over the speaker system. “It’s time to get groovy.”
“Dancing Queen” by Abba started playing and I heard Westin shout, “I love this song!”
Henry shuffled over to Liam and me, looking seconds from falling over. “Are you kidding me?” he asked.
“What?”
“Look at that.” He pointed at the rink.
I stood on unsteady feet and saw Bear gliding around the rink at top speed, effortlessly changing directions and skating backwards and forwards.
“Show off,” Liam muttered.
“Oh my god, you’ve been holding out on me!” Westin squealed, skating towards him. I had to admit she looked steadier than that day in the parking lot.
Bear grasped her hands and towed her along, spinning her around. Her laughter was loud enough to be heard above the pounding music.
“Are we really doing this?” Liam gritted out, looking awkward and unstable as he stood up.
“Why, you scared?” I taunted.
He snorted, pushing my arm. I lost my balance on the carpeted surface and tumbled to the ground, taking him down with me.
“Wow, look at the big, strong alphas.” Henry stood over us. “Such impressive specimens.”
“Fuck you,” Liam grumbled, grabbing the side of the rink to get back on his feet. “You’re probably the first person who’s been in here wearing skates and dress pants.”
Henry looked down at his outfit. “To be fair, I didn’t know it was disco night.”
