I quickly changed into my workout clothes, almost running into Henry as I left the bedroom. He looked nervous but changed his expression when he saw me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing,” he said quickly.
I stared at him, waiting him out.
He huffed, a smile touching his lips. “I can’t keep anything from you, can I? I just don’t know anything about fighting, so I’m not going to be helpful.”
“We can practice together.” I ran my fingers through his hair.
His shoulders loosened a bit. “As long as you don’t mind that I can’t protect you like they can.”
“Henry.” I frowned. “You’ve already done so much for me, for all of us, with this trip. I don’t need a fourth bodyguard, okay? I just... I’m just happy you’re here.” It didn’t matter to me that Henry was a beta or had different skills or background, but now I wondered ifheminded.
“You’re so fucking perfect.” He grasped the sides of my face and pulled me in for a hot kiss. His tongue danced against mine and I moaned, wanting him closer. When he pulled away, we were both breathing heavily.
“I want you in my bed tonight,” he said, his voice low.
“Oh yeah?” I asked coyly.
He moved me back until I was pressed against the wall. “Yes. I’ve missed that sweet cunt of yours.”
A shiver ran through me, and I wanted to abandon the entire self-defense plan and fuck him in the hallway. Henry chuckled as if he could sense the direction of my thoughts.
“We better leave now before I wreck your perfect pussy right here.”
I whimpered as he took my hand and almost dragged me to the door.
“That’s a good girl,”Bear said as I dodged the punch he threw at me.
Fuck, he kept saying things like that and I couldn’t stop slick from soaking my underwear. The glint in his eye told me he knew what he was doing, and it spurred me on. I dropped low to the ground and charged towards him, trying to get my leg behind his and take him to the ground.
“Hook your leg,” Liam shouted.
I did my best, but my movements were clumsy. Bear stumbled back, but instead of falling, I was the one who ended up in a heap on the floor.
I blew a strand of hair out of my face as I caught my breath.
Liam and Gray were immediately over me. Gray ran his hands down my body to check for injuries, but Liam shoved him aside. “I’m the nurse. I should be the one to check her.”
Gray shoved Liam back and I rolled my eyes.
“I’m actually fine, but I would like to get up,” I said.
Bear appeared in my line of vision, holding out his hand to help me up. I pushed it aside with a huff and got to my feet.
“Don’t be like that, baby,” he said, grinning. “You’ll be able to take me down in no time. You need to start fighting dirty, though.”
“It looked good to me,” Henry said.
“Me ending up on the floor looked good?” I crossed my arms.
I didn’t miss the way Henry’s eyes flitted down to my breasts before returning to my face. “What I meant was, it looked like you were close to taking him down.”
I huffed. “Let’s try it again.”
“No, this is too much,” Gray said. “You’re going to hurt yourself.”
