DM2:You think she’d be happy. Her directorial debut is premiering at Cannes. And yet, we hear that she was a, well, I don’t like to say…
DM1:We’re just quoting our source here. Those are not our words.
DM2:She was a quote unquote “stuck-up bitch to the catering staff.” You know the French take shit from no one. And they didn’t take it from her.
DM1:Look, we’re women. We’re not into taking down other women. Even if they’re pretty and successful and incredibly privileged.
DM2:But you havenoexcuse to be rude to anyone. None. Idon’t care what happened. Be nice to the staff, for god’s sake.
DM1:They’re the ones pouring the champagne. Those are important people.
DM2:And look, usually, we wouldn’t yammer on about an incident like this. Celebrities being rude to service people is not the gossip we’re known for.
DM1:But then we got another tip.
DM2:From a different source.
DM1:Who said that one of the top producers on the movie—let’s not name him here; it’s not important—was seen being screamed at in the middle of the party.
DM2:And not just a little bit. Like, this went on for several minutes, apparently.
DM1:The woman unleashed her fury on him in front ofeveryone.
DM2:Talk about anger issues.
DM1:Odetta Olson has that look about her though, don’t you think? She’s not, like, a smiler.
DM2:Totally. And no one come at us, okay? We’re not saying women should be smiling all the time. Just that, she should be having the time of her life right now.
DM1:Ride that wave, girl.
DM2:And there she is, feuding with all these people from her movie.
DM1:We don’t know what it was about though. Like, her screaming at the producer?
DM2:The truth always comes out!
DM1:Totally. Okay now, let’s talk about Tyler Charles. He was seen out last night at a Cannes hot spot.
DM2:I loooove Tyler Charles. You just know he has the brightest career ahead of him.

“I think I might very well fucking murder everybody.”
Carmen had told me to meet her at Mademoiselle Gray, the beachfrontbar of the Majestic Hotel, for lunch. And a side of hyperbole, perhaps.
She rubbed her temples. “Let’s recap here. Give me the facts, things you heard firsthand.”
The server had cleared our salad plates and brought over a pot of black coffee. Carmen poured some in both of our cups, without asking. We knew we’d be heavily caffeinated all week.
Especially after what happened at theDon’t Be Sad!party.
Carmen was waiting for me to speak, but I hesitated. She was so mad, I wasn’t exactly eager to be the messenger.
“There definitely was some screaming,” I started carefully. “You know I was very discreet when I asked around, because we don’t want to make it worse, but several people confirmed it. And itwasdirected at one of the producers on the movie.”
“You’re sure it wasn’t Dorian Fisher? Because that would be fucking catastrophic.”
