DM1:A brand like Clapard is not going to publicly admit that they left a multimillion-dollar necklace in the back of a taxi or chucked it loose into some intern’s suitcase.
DM2:It did go beautifully with her Chanel gown. Odetta Olson was radiant.
DM1:It was like all the nasty rumors about her didn’t affect her at all.
DM2:Maybe they didn’t. She won, after all.
DM1:She certainly did. Good for her.
DM2:Yes.
[silence]
DM1:Do we want to talk about the other thing now?
DM2:This is hard. We’re used to sharing gossip.
DM1:Not all gossip is harmless…
DM2:But what we’re about to tell you is far outside our comfort zone.
DM1:Do you want to say it?
DM2:I don’t think I can.
DM1:Well, earlier today, we heard rumors that Dorian Fisher hadn’t been seen since last night, when he attended the exclusive party we reported on earlier. He wasn’t seen getting off the yacht, and some people in his close circle had been looking for him.
DM2:And now…the news just broke that a body was found at sea. Nothing has been confirmed yet. The police are keeping all information closely guarded.
DM1:But if… I can’t even say it. If it is what we think it is, this a huge loss for the film industry and millions of fans across the world.
DM2:And I count myself as one of them. I’ve seen every one of Dorian Fisher’s films. What an amazing talent, a class act all the way. One of the greats.
DM1:If something happened to him, then it’s absolutely devastating.
DM2:We don’t know anything for sure but he wasn’t at the ceremony. And we heard that the festival organizers did everything they could to keep the news under wraps until after the end of the ceremony.
DM1:The show must go on.
DM2:It always must. As we record this, the police are still actively looking for anyone with information about last night’s party. Whoever the victim was, they have not yet confirmed whether it was an accident or if foul play was involved.
DM1:We’re crossing our fingers that we don’t have the full picture here and that Dorian Fisher is safe and sound, wherever he may be.
DM2:I can’t wrap my head around this. Not Dorian Fisher. Please, no!
DM1:It’s too sad to think about. Of course, we’ll keep you informed of anything we find out, as quickly as we can hit that record button. Stay tuned!
Odetta
Admit it.
You bought it all, didn’t you?
You got swallowed up in the narrative and believed the stories. Youwantedthem to be true, because they made you feel better about yourselves. I’d somehow managed to stick around this industry for almost three decades. I was too skinny, too attractive. I was twice divorced. Ineededto be the worst possible bitch. So bad you couldn’tnothate me.
Let me guess. You never even questioned the rumors, the ones that followed me like a bad smell over the years, and the ones smeared all over my face these last few days.
I’m not surprised.
