Bean punched the guy, trying to keep him down. A struggle ensued, along with bucking hips, trying to throw Bean off. It took a moment, but Bean had one of the guy’s arms pinned, but the guy was still struggling hard.

He glanced over to Link, about to ask for help, when he saw his buddy was struggling with another guy. Bean threw another punch, before turning the man over, and getting control. He pulled out the zip cuffs and applied them before turning to Link.

Bean came to a full stop when he saw that the guy Link was fighting with had a grenade in his hand. The dude was trying to pull the pin. That would ruin everything if a grenade went off in the house. An explosion would alert the cops to their presence. Also, it could possibly kill them and the guys they were trying to capture.

Bean closed the distance and pinned the guy’s hand that had the grenade against the wall. The man let go of the grenade, and it dropped and rolled under the dresser before he could catch it. Bean dove for the grenade, thinking he could toss it out the window before it blew. Things were about to get a whole hell of a lot more exciting.

Chapter 26

Bean puthis hand on the grenade, thinking he was being an idiot, when he noticed that the pin hadn’t been pulled. Maybe he’d seen that the pin was still in place, and that was why he dove for it.

He hadn’t even thought about it. He’d just wanted to save his friends.

“Got it.” Bean’s voice shook as he spoke. “We’re safe.”

Link punched the man hard, knocking him out. “This fucker here was about to kill us all.”

“We need to check all the rooms. They tried to explode a grenade,” Bean said.

“Shit,” Chase said over coms.

After getting the two men under control, Bean began checking the upstairs. Stanley joined him. They made quick work of the rooms and the attic. There wasn’t anyone else in the house with them.

Chase and Scott had placed the two guards in the closet to get them out of the way. He and Link were bringing down the two men they’d captured.

This wasn’t as messy as it could have been, but it wasn’t very clean, either. They could have easily died. This type of mission kept his blood flowing. He wouldn’t say he loved missions like this, but they kept his life exciting.

Chase stood in the center of the entryway, looking at the men they’d captured. “We have four. We need to check their vehicles and see if we have room to transport them.”

“I’ll look in the garage,” Keel said.

Bean was glad they had captured these guys. Now they had to find all the information about these men and what they were doing.

“I’ll search for computers,” Bean said.

Mick nodded. “I’ll go with you and search for files.”

“Grab anything you think we need,” Chase called after them.

Bean waved his hand above his head. “Got it.”

There were four computers in the office, and he grabbed all of them, knowing someone could sort through them, eventually. He searched the desk for passwords and found an index card in one of the drawers that had random words splashed on both sides of the card. Mick had two boxes of paperwork. It seemed like they were ready to go.

“We cleaned the office out,” Mick said.

Bean nodded. “I think so.”

Scott spoke over coms. “I found a laptop upstairs. I’m bringing it.”

Now they had five computers, a few phones, and two boxes of computers. They would find whatever they needed in this.

Keel found a van and a sedan in the garage. They split the people and stuff between the vehicles, and they took off to the airport. They were allowed to drive onto the tarmac and load the plane. The four prisoners were strapped to the seats, and no one asked them any questions. They were headed to Stuttgart with the computers and the captives.

The flight took about four hours, and when they landed, they handed the four people off to a group of Deltas who were in the country while they took a moment to grab food and freshen up before they started interrogating them.

Bean showered and ate some food, but then he was ready to go at it with the computers. He used the words on the index card as passwords, finding success at the third word he entered. In the computer, he found the full-length videos of Garnet’s three speeches. The man in the States had filmed all three of her sessions. They needed to do better security at those conferences. Someone must have had some type of smart glasses that had been snuck into the session that allowed them to film all the content.

He started writing notes about what he’d found. Mick came into the room where he was working and looked over his shoulder.
