“I’m shocked. I’ve just never experienced anything like this.”
“Well, get used to it.“
She turned to him, studying him to see if he was speaking the truth. It seemed like he was. “You’re not—“ Willa glanced around, making sure no one was standing too close.
“Not what?”
“Well, not blowing smoke up my ass to get me to sleep with you? This is really who you are.”
He nodded. “This is who I am. If I wanted to have sex and not a relationship, I could go to a bar and get laid. I’m not a saint, and I’ve done that sort of thing, but I’m older, and I’ve seen how good these guys have it. I’d like to have someone special in my life.”
She narrowed her gaze, studying him. “So you’re not just pulling my leg or trying to manipulate me when you say you want a relationship.”
He shook his head. “I want something more than just one-night stands. And I understand why you’re suspicious.”
She drew in a slow breath. Could she be his more? Was she really ready to commit to someone so soon after leaving Robert?
This man was the best guy she’d ever met. Maybe the timing was right for a relationship. She just wasn’t sure he would want her after he realized she wasn’t good in bed.

Cy pulled into his driveway, not at all surprised to see that Willa had drifted off to sleep on the way home. They’d stayed for a long time, and she’d met so many people. When he cut the engine, she opened her eyes and wiped her face.
He got out and grabbed the bags from the back seat before moving over to the passenger side of the car. “You okay to walk in?” he asked as she stood from the car.
“Yes. I’m good.”
“I could carry you.”
Her laughter washed over him, making him feel warm. No question, he wanted this woman in his life.
“Want to watch a movie?”
“Sure.” Willa took a few steps, then stretched.
She looked amazing from this angle, and he wanted to take her to bed and curl up next to her. But they weren’t at that point in their relationship.
Willa took a moment to freshen up before coming downstairs. He made up some popcorn and was on the couch. She sat down close to him, but not too close.
The movie started, and they both sat back to watch. He was a little surprised she didn’t fall asleep during the movie. It was asappy drama, but it didn’t have any sex scenes. He’d made sure not to start a movie with a bunch of lovemaking. That would have been awkward.
After the movie, Willa stretched and then checked the time. “Oh crap. I have to head to work in about twenty minutes.”
“Want a sandwich or something to eat?”
“I should eat something quick.”
She headed into the kitchen and grabbed cheese and lunch meat from the refrigerator. He watched as she made her sandwich. While she worked, he would nap, then head up to the bar to pick her up.
“I’ll be there this evening before closing.”
Her eyes narrowed as she met his gaze. “You don’t have to.”
“I want to.”
“What about sleep? You wake up so early.”
“I’ll take a nap while you’re working.”
