“I’ve never even been to a concert.”

That launched them into a completely new discussion, this time on their most memorable concerts.

Soren leaned over until his lips grazed my ear. “Oh, blondie,” he said. “There’s so much I have to teach you.”

My cheeks warmed. Damn this man and his silky voice. The one that made my vagina flutter and my body vibrate.

“Um, I’m going to go check on Dani,” I said, removing myself from his orbit. He turned toward the window to hide his smile.

I made my way to the back of the bus, carefully sidestepping discarded clothing and empty water bottles. Boys were gross.

If the soft snores were anything to go by, Wesley Nuñez, our center fielder, was already deep into his REM sleep. How he could sleep through this mayhem was beyond me.

Finally, I plopped down into the seat across from Dani.

“You doing alright?”

“Just peachy.” Dani smiled weakly.

I wasn’t so sure about that. Frankly, she looked like death warmed over. Scratch that. I’d seen ghosts with more pink in their cheeks.Poor thing.

Dani was prone to motion sickness. The kind that went well beyond feeling a touch queasy. She’d spent the first couple of hours laid out across Pink’s lap, and the next couple locked in the bathroom.

“Can I get you anything?”

“No.” She tucked her knees up to her chest before slumping over in her seat. “Just let me die here in peace.”

Pink turned around in his seat, crossing his arms over the seat back between the two of them. “How’s she doing?”

Dani groaned.

“Not too great,” I said, translating for him.

“Don’t be sad, D.B.” He rubbed a hand over her side. “Because sad spelled backwards isdas, anddasno good.”

She groaned again.

“Jared, would you mind grabbing her some Gatorade?”

“Sure thing, Clarke Kent.”

I rolled my eyes. Pink and Dani had become fast friends, and even though I knew his heart was in the right place, his relentless golden retriever energy might not be the best thing for her right now. What she needed was electrolytes.

My attention wavered between Dani, still curled into the fetal position, and the rest of the bus. A few of the guys had scattered throughout, tucking their faces behind books, tablets, and sleep masks. Some of them, Soren included, seemed to be caught up in a heated debate about . . . pizza toppings?

Jeez Louise.

All these guys thought about was food, sex, and baseball.

Pink exchanged a few words with Coach Ward at the front of the bus before grabbing a Gatorade from the team’s cooler. I was too far away to hear their conversation, but Ward’s eyes tracked Pink’s movement all the way to the back of the bus.

“Distract me.”

I turned back toward Dani. “Hm?”

She lifted her mouth from behind her knees, just long enough to repeat herself. “Distract me. Please.” Her eyes shifted to the floor. “Before I barf all over your cute shoes.”

“Alrighty.” I blew out a breath, cocked my hip, and told her the first thing I thought of. The thing I hadn’t been able to take my mind off since we boarded the bus at five a.m. this morning. “Here’s a fun one for you. I was supposed be leaving for my honeymoon today.”
