If I’d known a kiss was all it took to shut Soren “Sin” Sinclair up, I might’ve done it sooner.

Soren

I’m kissing Clarke Myers. I’m kissing Clarke Myers.

Correction, Clarke Myers was kissing me. And it was even better than I had imagined.

Not that I’d spenta lotof time imagining this moment. Oh, who was I kidding? I had been fantasizing about Clarke’s lips on mine since we met. And reality fucking kicked my fantasy’s ass.

Her hands drifted to my shoulders before tracing a downward path over my torso. Down farther still. A shiver rippled through me when her nails scratched at each of my abs. Methodically, almost as if . . .

My god, she’s counting them.

Things were moving dangerously fast. She was already closing in on my throbbing cock—only two abs left to go—and we hadn’t even made it to the bedroom. Then again, the bedroom wasn’t so much of a bedroom as it was a double bed tucked behind the kitchenette.

Airstreams weren’t exactly made for rollicking sexploits.

Even though I knew I’d probably regret it later, I dragged my lips away from hers and caught both her hands up in one of mine. “What are we doing, blondie?” I pressed her hands against the wall above her head.

Her eyes popped open at the sound of my strangled voice.

“Isn’t it obvious?”

She anchored her pelvis forward until she was practically riding my bare thigh.Fuck. I was suddenly thankful I hadn’t put on sweats after my shower because I could feel her heat through the thin barrier of her panties. The flimsy material of her dress did nothing to hide it.

“I’m gonna need your words, sweetheart. How far do you want to take this?” I buried my face in her neck, dotting a trail of kisses from ear to collarbone. My hand snuck down her spine. “What do you want?” I asked when I reached the hem of her dress.Inches from heaven.

“Um . . .”

I reluctantly pulled away when she trailed off. After one more delicious whiff of her hair, that was.Fucking peaches.

“Clarke.” She squirmed beneath my penetrating gaze. “What do you want?”

She swallowed. “I don’t know.”

Well, shit.

I loosened my hold on her wrists immediately. When I stepped away from her, she followed, as though her body were drawn to mine by some magnetic pull.

I reversed our positions, leaning back against the wall and drawing her hands into mine. That was the safest option, one where her hands couldn’t wander up and down my naked torso. The woman had arms like a goddamn octopus.

“What’s going on, blondie?”

Her eyes avoided mine. I dragged a finger across her jaw, torturously slow, until finally, she had to tilt her head back tolook up at me. My eyes searched her face. There wasn’t a trace of the confident sex vixen who had knocked on my door just moments ago. No, this was a side of Clarke I hadn’t seen before. One that I didn’t care to either. Hurt, embarrassed, and, worst of all, afraid.Of me?The thought hit me harder than a punch to the gut.

“Did somebody . . .” I swallowed, preparing to ask the question that no man ever wanted to ask any woman. “Did somebody hurt you?”

I was already calculating all the ways to fuck this dude up—whoever he was, wherever he was—without damaging my hands before Spring Training.

“Not in the way you think.” She spoke softly, barely louder than a whisper.

“I’m gonna need more than that.”

She bit her lip and shook her head, blinking away the tears that were already brimming in her eyes. “Let’s just say that up until about a month ago, I was engaged to a . . . not-so-great guy. Who said a lot of not-so-great things to me.”

I nodded, blowing out a breath. “Go on.”

“He was never really interested inme.Just my family's name and everything that came with it." My confusion must have been evident, because she added, "Myers, as in Myers Hotel Group."
