“You look so good. You’re glowing,” Eden praised hugging her. “This is my sister, Staysha. Staysha, Remedy.”
“I’ve been dying to meet you. Eden said you were a hell of a visionary,” Staysha complimented. “I know she has you tied up with Vibrance but I’m going to need you at the modeling agency too. You ever thought about making your services a business of your own?”
“I’ve given it some thought,” Remedy shared.
“Well, this is the sign that you stop thinking and step into your lane, girl. We have so many brands who need your eye,” Eden replied. “Remedy, this is your time to be everything you dreamt about.”
“Eden, thank you very much for seeing me,” Remedy hummed.
“Listen, I needed someone to see me too. I got you, girl. Let me introduce you to Maximus, Keon, and Brody.”
“And don’t pay Brody much mind, he’s like this all the time,” Staysha added to Eden’s comment.
Remedy watched the men talk and laugh amongst themselves before the women appeared. Like they were talkingabout something they had no business talking about, they straightened up. Eden and Staysha drifted to their men, while Erys stepped out and wrapped his arms around her.
“Remedy,” Maximus spoke up. “I heard a lot of amazing things about you. It’s nice to meet you.”
Remedy smiled. “Huge fan. Thank you for coming out to hear the talent Erys and Tone have been working with. I think they’re really something special.”
“I’ve done a lot of shit in the street with your husband. One thing he’s always gotten right was music. I trust his ear,” Maximus complimented. “Now do I trust him to keep peace in negotiations…”
Remedy and Maximus sounded off in tandem. “Absolutely not.”
“Hey now, I’m peaceful,” Erys defended.
Keon, Maximus, and Tone sounded off. “No, you’re not.”
After the laughter settled over the group, the showcase began and Remedy leaned her body against Erys. “You’re about to be bigger than you thought. Like Don status.”
“No matter how big this gets out here, as long as I got you, I’m good.” Erys kissed the side of her face.
Remedy held his hand. “I’m not going anywhere, Franklin.”
“Good, ‘cause I’m not letting you go.”
Jamani had captured the audience and so eloquently introduced Desi to the stage. Remedy liked him. He was a breath of fresh air and his sound was what the industry was missing. The young kids weren’t influenced to listen to anyone with a conscience, just a bunch of mumble rap and false narratives.
When Desi took the stage, she did exactly what Remedy knew she was capable of – bringing the house down. Maximus didn’t even sit through the rest of the show. He looked over at Erys and said, “both of them in the office on Monday. We got deals to make.”
Remedy nudged him. “I told you. Big.”

“I was watching Remedy float in the pool with that damn turtle on her stomach. I see why you married her,” Ernie grunted. “A sight for these old eyes. Just all buttery brown and stacked up just like May. My God.”
“First of all, Ernie, I’m right here,” Remedy said with laughter. “And secondly, I don’t think Cherie is going to like the way you’re drooling over this big body in a bathing suit. Oh and I’m married now, my husband doesn’t like that.”
“Girl, your thieving ass nigga don’t mean shit to me. I made him, remember. Everything he doing to you, I can do it better. I’m the OG,” Ernie continued to talk his shit and make Remedy giggle as she buckled her seat belt and opened the center console in search of snacks. Instead, she found her nursing school sweatshirt.
Erys got in the truck, looked at her and grinned. “My good luck charm and it smells like you, put it back. You got snacks in the glove box.”
Remedy shook her head and refolded the sweatshirt and put it back in its place, ignoring the guns he kept underneath it. Erys and his guns in hidden places around the house were normal to her. One thing she knew for sure, no one was ever going to catch him slipping.
“You hear your daddy talking shit to me?” She asked, grabbing her bag of trail mix and sitting back.
“I hear him. That’s all he can do,” Erys replied.
Ernie kissed his teeth. “Shit you say, nigga. My dick still works. Three blue pills and it’s up and stuck.”
