“Shit. You’d think they’d have better things to do in this weather.”

“Let me handle this.” Dan strokes my hair, and I bury my face in the crook of his neck. His heartbeat is a steady thump against my chest, keeping me calm. His other hand presses the button that opens the window a little. “Hello officer.”

The torch shines in the car. I tense, feeling the heat of Dan still hard inside me.

“What’s going on here?” A deep voice says.

“My wife here has PTSD. I’m just calming her down with the thunder,” Dan says with a smooth, controlled exterior, but his body vibrates beneath me, his erection throbbing inside me with pure adrenaline and an undeniable thrill.

The torch shines between us, highlighting my exposed thigh. A wave of heat floods my body as I squeeze around Dan, unable to help it.

Dan places his hand on my exposed thigh, his touch both protective and possessive. His eyes narrow, his voice deepens. “Are we going to have a problem, officer?”

His dick twitches inside me as I grip him, my fists clinging to the back of his shirt as the heat between us intensifies.

“I’m going to have to ask you to step out of the vehicle.”

Dan holds my gaze, stroking the back of my hair. He’s steady. Always steady, despite the slight flare in his nostrils and a tick in his jaw that’s not readable to the untrained eye. “It’s okay, sweetheart. I’m just going to grab my ID from my wallet.” He lifts his hips, his metal piercing hits a spot inside me, and I stifle a moan by biting my lip.

My entire body clenches, the intensity unbearable. The heat in the car like an inferno.

Dan soothes my back. “You’re doing great, sweetheart.”

I hold on to him, not wanting to let go, not wanting this moment to end. Not even the police officer at the window can extinguish the fire between us. My walls clamp down aroundhim, tingles build in my clit and as Dan shuffles in his seat, the metal piercing hitting a spot inside me, I can’t hold it in any longer.

I bury my head in the crook of his neck, my fist clenching his shirt. A faint whimper breaking free on an exhale as my sex pulses around him, gripping his thick shaft and pooling with arousal.

Dan shows the cop his ID. “Do I need to make a phone call or are we good, officer?”

His face pales and steps backwards. “I’m sorry to bother you, sir.” He points at the logo on the sleeve of Dan’s shirt. “Good game tonight?”

“The best.” Dan pushes the button on the door, muffling the officer’s voice to the rain hitting the window. Then cups my face with a smirk as he shouts, “Goodnight, officer.”

The officer steps away, his torchlight flickering over the rain-slickened road as he heads back to his patrol car. The moment the beam vanishes, I release the breath I was holding and giggle into Dan’s neck.

“You were tormenting me on purpose, weren’t you?” Dan’s hot breath caresses my cheek as he laughs. His nose scrunching up in that annoying way is now endearing and I kiss him there. “Do you know how hard it was to not explode while you came on my cock?”

“I know exactly how hard it is.” I clench around him and kiss his lips.

Dan’s hands are still on me, grounding me, but my mind is spinning.

I lift my head to gaze into his eyes, my breath still shallow. “What the hell did you show him?”

Dan grins, tracing slow circles on my back. “Just my ID.”

I narrow my eyes. “That wasn’t just a driver’s license. He practically saluted you before scurrying off.”

“Rose.” His tone is low, almost a warning. “Let it go.”

My brow furrows. “But how can I?” The way the officerchanged—one moment all authority, the next backing away like he’d disturbed something far bigger than he could handle—doesn’t sit right.

Dan shifts me off his lap, adjusting himself with a hiss before helping me back into the passenger seat. The way he moves, the way he takes control of a situation without breaking a sweat… it’s not just confidence. It’s training. Probably years of being in the army, but what exactly does he do now?

My heart pounds as I buckle my seatbelt, my hands slightly shaking. “Who are you, Dan?”

He starts the car, his expression unreadable as he pulls back onto the road. “I’m the man who just got us out of a very awkward situation. And I’m the man who’s taking you home so I can fuck you properly and finish what we started.”

I should push. Demand answers. But right now, all I can do is stare at the rain-streaked window, my mind racing with the one truth I can’t ignore.
