All I want to do is take her home and make all her troubles disappear, if only for the night. I’d make her feel fucking fantastic. My fingers tease the hem of her shirt, itching to stroke the bare skin of her back.
She still has the belt on, keeping her ass in the seat. If I wasn’t towing her car, I’d have pulled over by now and lifted her into my lap so she can grind her red hot pussy against my dick until all her problems are forgotten.
My cock swells beneath my zipper. Glancing down, her red hair cascades onto my thighs. I’m hard as a fucking rock, picturing her going to town on my junk. I’m such a fucking dirty dog, especially when I’m trying to console her.
The drive isn’t that long. Traffic is sparse on a Sunday, especially once out of the city. I turn down the dirt road to Kane’s farmhouse, thinking I could take her to my lodge while I’m here, but Dan will need a ride back to the city.
The gravel crunches under the tyres. I bring the car to a stop, and Dan brakes behind me. Memories of hanging out here with Kane working on his Pa’s old car flash through my head. So many years have passed, yet it feels like only yesterday.
I jump from the car; the gravel scraping under my boot. Kane’s border collie bounds over to me with her wagging tail. “Hey, girl.” I ruffle her coat, scratching behind her ears. When I glance up at the door expecting to see Kane, it’s a girl with purple hair in his place.
“Hey. Is Kane around?” As I say the words, he appears behind the girl.
“Hey, Dom. How’s it going?” Kane strides over, scratching the salt and pepper scruff on his jaw. Past events have aged him before his time, though we’re all looking worse for wear these days. He shakes my hand, nodding towards the young girl with purple hair. “You remember Alison?”
I nod, unable to forget all the shit that went down and see the resemblance.
Dan steps out of the Fiesta. “Hey, Kane.”
“I’m Letty,” the girl with violet hair says.
Kane clears his throat. “She’s Alison’s daughter. She’s staying with me for a while.”
“I remember. I’m sorry about your Ma, lass,” I say. Kane loved her mother. I can see why he’d take her daughter in. Only she’s not a little girl, she’s a woman. A young woman, but still a woman.
“Thank you.” Letty’s arms wrap around her body. The breeze picks up, blowing her purple hair from her face like flowers scattering to the wind.
“Violet go inside.” Kane nods towards the door, but she doesn’t take the hint.
“I’m fine.”
Dan smiles. “Pretty damn fine, if you ask me.” He gives her a once over, but then raises an eyebrow to me with a quirk of his lips. He’s trying to get a rise out of Kane and gauge if he’s fucking her. You can take the lad out of the army, but you can’t take the army out of the lad. It’s been years since we fought together, but when we meet up, the banter is always the same, like no time has passed at all.
Letty shuffles on her feet. Kane shoots Dan a look that says, ‘you look at her again, and I’ll cut off your balls.’
Kane clears his throat. “What’s the problem, Dom? She broke down?” He nods towards Poppy in the car.
She had a breakdown back at her flat, but I think she’s okay now. “Something like that.” I dig into my jeans for my tin of baccy and offer Kane one I rolled earlier.
He takes it, then inhales on the stick when I flick my lighter. “Since when do you need me to fix your girlfriend’s car?”
Poppy opens the door, slipping out of the leather seat. “He’s not my boyfriend.”
I exhale, letting out a plume of smoke. “Yet.”
Her green eyes widen in the setting sun, making them almost fluorescent.
My lips curl as I take another drag, giving Kane a shrug of my shoulders as I walk around Poppy. My hand grazes her arm, causing her breath to hitch at my touch.
“I could fix it, but I don’t have the time or space at Dan’s place to give it a thorough overhaul.”
“Dan, flip the bonnet,” Kane says, rounding the Fiesta.
“What sound does it make?” Kane has another pull on the roll-up, then grips it between his lips while he inspects under the bonnet.
“The engine won’t turn over. Looks like someone messed with the distributor cap.” I flick the ash from my smoke onto the gravel.
Poppy moves between us. “I’ve had problems with the battery for a while. I was meaning to get a new one.”
