“Uh-huh.” She gave me a smug smile.

“Which one?” I asked, not daring to believe it. “I have a courtyard, and I don’t want it to be destroyed.”

“You made that pretty little outdoor space?” Tatiana cooed. “Oh, of course we have to keep that. I work for the developer who is trying to purchase the land. I will absolutely talk to him about making sure your unit is at the courtyard. I know they’ll totally go for it. Ground-floor units are hard to sell, so it won’t be a problem to make sure you keep your home.”

“Really?” I said. “Oh my god!” A weight lifted off my shoulders. “That would be amazing!”

“Anything to help out a friend,” Tatiana said.

“And I can totally write you a character-witness statement. I mean, jeez, my going through life is just spewing convincing bullshit. I’m totally up for the challenge! I’ll make you sound like mom of the year,” I promised.

“I’ll have the lawyer send the paperwork over,” she said, smiling at me. “Once you sign, you’ll be an official witness in the case. It might go to trial.”

“I can totally cry on the witness stand if need be,” I assured her.

Shit, I would flash the judge if that was what it took to keep my home. I was keeping my courtyard, and I would have a bigger unit.

Amazing!

“I’m not going to be homeless!” I sang after the elevator had closed and whisked Tatiana away.

My phone beeped.

Sebastian:Let me take you out.

Sebastian:We’ll go to a restaurant where there are no brawls, and no one will harass you about plants.

Sebastian:I’m on my way to your office.

Amy:Shoot, dinner and a hot guy?

Amy:Guess I’d better go shower!

Amy:The hot water was out in my building, before you start judging me.

Amy:I’m not that much of a disaster.

Sebastian:Honestly don’t even bother showering. I’m going to make you all dirty tonight anyway.

Amy bounded out of the revolving doors of the hotel lobby when I arrived in front of the renovated Brookview Hotel.

It was one of the Grayson hotel group projects. Seeing the historic building they’d renovated almost made me want to invest in a big real estate project—almost.

Mainly I wanted to get into Amy. Or rather come in Amy.

I was about to adopt my brother, I had the wedding under control, and I was going to fuck Amy’s brains out. Things were looking up.

As soon as we were in the car, I kissed her and groaned as her body arched into mine.

She moaned as I caressed her through the thin sundress fabric. The short dress rode up her thighs as I slid my hand underneath it to finger her through her panties.

Amy gasped and pushed me off. “I just showered. You’re going to get me all dirty and disheveled.” She smoothed her skirt down.

“If I’m not mistaken, you were already pretty wet.”
