“Don’t you worry about that. I just fired their whole team.”

Hunter nodded. “No one in my family is ever doing business with Weddings in the City again.”

Isobbed as I watched Meg and Hunter lead Sebastian away through the cavernous lobby of the courthouse.

“Some display that was,” Tatiana said sourly as she and Sebastian’s father headed to the entrance.

“You fucking bitch!” I yelled at her.

“That is no way to speak with a client.” She smirked. “I win. Sebastian loses.”

Alfie looked at me wide-eyed. He was upset, and I felt like garbage.

“But we can go visit him on the weekend, can’t we?” he asked his father.

“No,” Daryl barked. “Stop asking me. Jesus. Fucking kids. I don’t know why you even wanted him, Tatiana.”

“I should never have trusted you,” I said to her, my nails digging into my palms.

“You really shouldn’t have,” Tatiana said, her tone mocking. “Remember that little promise I made about saving your apartment? You can forget about that. In two weeks, when the purchase of the apartment building goes through, you’re going to be homeless.”

I was devastatedas I headed back uptown to the Weddings in the City office.

I had ruined everything. I had lost Sebastian, Alfie was in a terrible situation, and I hadn’t even saved my garden, which was why I had made the terrible decision in the first place.

“Fuck my life,” I whispered.

At least I still had weddings.

What was I going to do about Meg’s wedding? I couldn’t very well be maid of honor. I couldn’t look Sebastian in the eye. I was so ashamed.

“I’ll just go early and do the flowers,” I decided as I swiped my card in the elevator in the lobby of our building. “Then I’ll leave. God, this is so terrible.”

“Amy!” Ivy said hysterically when I walked in. “What did you do? What happened?”

“It was the lawyer,” I tried to explain. “He twisted my words and didn’t let me give a testimony for Sebastian. Then Tatiana and his father took Alfie, and it’s all my fault!”

“So that’s why Meg fired us.”

My mouth fell open with shock.

“We were fired? She fired us from the wedding? Her wedding is this weekend!”

“Yes, she fired us,” Ivy said angrily, “and she said that she was going to tell every one of her friends not to use us. She also said Hunter wasn’t going to allow any of his family members to have us plan their weddings either.”

“We’re ruined!” Sophie cried. “Meg’s maid of honor is Kate Holbrook now. We’re going to be blacklisted in the entire city.”

“Glad I kept my accounting license active,” Elsie said grimly.

“No!” I started to cry again. “Call her back and tell her I can be the only one fired.”

“Believe me,” Ivy said, pursing her mouth, “I offered. She said no. Then said she didn’t want to talk about it anymore, and we could consider the contract terminated.”
