Don’t leave, I wanted to yell.
Cool and casual.
“Too bad,” I said, sauntering after her. “Let me drive you home.”
And then give you an amazing night.
“I called a friend to give me a ride.” Sadie’s voice was breathless, and she leaned back against the front door.
I leaned over her; her eyes were big. All I wanted to do was kiss her.
28
Sadie
Idesperately wanted Parker to kiss me, but instead, I pushed him away.Just push me against the wall and have your way with me, I internally screamed. But he was too much of a gentleman for that. Parker watched me like a wolf watching a deer while I straightened my dress and waved goodbye to the kids.
Out of the heat of the kitchen, the doubts and excuses were starting to surface. Was I crazy? I couldn’t actually lose my V-card to Parker. Surely he didn’t mean it—he was just teasing.
Was he teasing about going down on you?
All my obsessing about finally being with a man hadn’t been that detailed. I had only had hazy visions of actually having a cock anywhere near my biscuits. Other things like his mouth down there hadn’t even registered on the scale of possibility. I was starting to really get into the idea of sex with Parker. Instead of the hazy fangirl longings, I could actually, you know, do stuff to him. Like run my tongue down the ridges of those pecs and washboard abs. I could kiss his jaw, feel the slight stubble against my cheek.
His hand was real on my back, interrupting my fantasies. “Are you nervous?”
I laughed. It came out more of an awkward snort. “No.”
Yes.
“I told you I would help you with your little problem.”
“Big problem,” I said automatically.
“And I have a big solution.”
“Not too big,” I said, thinking of the Frankenstein condom Ida had given me.
Parker smiled dangerously. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re good and lubricated when the time comes.”
“When the time comes? Is this going to be some sort of ambush situation? Like one day I’m minding my own business, looking at recipes online, then the next, bam! There’s a dick?”
Parker chuckled, deep voice wrapping around me like hot chocolate. “Trust me, you are going to be very aware of what’s happening.”
Headlights shone through the windows in the foyer, and a horn blared.
“That’s my ride.”
Parker leaned over me. I pressed back against the door. Was this it? No. He unlocked the door, turning the handle.
I scooted under his arm and escaped to Jasmine’s car.
* * *
“You didn’t sleep with him?”Jasmine chastised when we were back in her living room.
“It was in his family home.”
“I’ve been at their estate. It’s huge. You totally could have ducked into a servant’s corridor, and no one would have been the wiser.”
