I gulped. This was as good as it was going to get. There’s no magical fairy-tale ending.
“Okay,” I croaked.
“Good,” Parker murmured. “Now, a burning question. Inquiring minds want to know.”
“What?” I breathed against his mouth.
“Have you, Sadie, ever been kissed?”
“I—”
“Is it ready yet?” Several small blond heads peered around the doorway.
Parker stepped back from me, turning on his brothers.
“It will be soon,” I assured them before he could yell at them. I shooed them out of the doorway, feeling slightly frazzled. Parker’s hand brushed my arm as I skirted around him back to my cooking.
“Don’t run from me,” Parker drawled. “You accepted. We’re going to see this through to the end, where you scream my name as I make you come.”
I was ready right now.
But there was twenty pounds of chicken to fry and enough biscuits to be made to feed an army.

As Sadie expertly cooked up an excessive amount of food, I wondered if I had come on too strong. It was clear that she wanted me though. She just needed a push.
I wanted her. My self-control was dangerously eroded. I was regretting taking lunch duty today. I had signed up for the time slot in a misguided fit of altruism. My older brothers usually spent Sundays with their girlfriends, and I had wanted to be nice and not tie them to the house. Still, if they showed up and thought they were getting free food, they had another thing coming.
“It’s going to be done when it’s done,” I growled at the pack of my brothers who milled around the kitchen doorway. “The salad is ready. Why don’t you eat that?”
“They want biscuits!” Sadie said with a laugh. “Not salad.”
“Salad is good for you.”
“So is fried chicken.” She dropped several pieces into the fryer. “I love the smell of fresh biscuits!” Sadie said happily, gazing in my direction. She sighed.
I looked over my shoulder at her as I cooked the sausage patties and the eggs. “See something you like?”
“I could put you in between a biscuit and eat you up,” she blurted.
I cocked an eyebrow. “You want me between your biscuits? Let me know any time, day or night.”
Sadie’s eyes widened, and she visibly gulped.
“Don’t tell me you don’t want me to go down on you,” I said, trying to sound casual, like this was just a fun idea. Really, I wanted to take her upstairs and spend the rest of the night with her, then marry her and spend the rest of my life with her.
I shook myself. I was sounding obsessive and crazy. Those were abnormal thought patterns.
You’re turning into your father. That’s probably why Garrett hates you.
I turned back to Sadie, needing her smile to ground me. But she looked thoughtful.
“I promise,” I said as I picked up the pan and walked by her with the mound of eggs. “No strings attached. Just fun and lots of sex.” I was satisfied to see her shiver.
I used any excuse to touch her as Sadie and I assembled the biscuits and wrapped them in butcher paper.
