“You should bring someone back!” Penny told me, grinning broadly.
I still couldn’t see how Garrett had ended up with her. They were polar opposites.
“Maybe the dildo girl?” she said, raising an eyebrow.
I grimaced. “She’s my employee.”
“So she did actually throw a bag of dildos at you boys!” Penny clapped her hands.
“I’ve blocked it out,” Mace said.
His girlfriend Josie was in town and was coaxing my youngest half brother, Davy, to please eat his salad.
“She has a collection of dildos in her purse? Sounds like my kind of girl,” Josie remarked.
“Mace not doing it for you?” Archer said, nodding sagely. “It happens when you get older.”
“Oh, is that what was wrong last night?” Hazel said with a laugh.
“You wound me!” Archer told her.
The jealousy and envy bubbled up. I desperately wanted someone to spend time with, to laugh with, to build a life with. Weirdly enough, I wanted to see Sadie. I didn’t know what it was about her. She wasn’t my type, though she was cute in a big-boob sort of way.
Maybe I’ll end up like Hunter instead, I thought as he stormed into the house.
“What happened to staying away from Meg?” Remy asked him.
“How do you know I saw her?”
“Because you look like you could eat glass and be perfectly fine.”

Sadie waslate to work the next morning. Part of me wondered if she had quit. I didn’t want her to quit. She raced in ten minutes late.
“I’m here!” she gasped. “I actually showered this morning.”
I nodded. I was only half paying attention to what she was saying. As she went to her office next door, I wondered why she was still a virgin. She was fun, had amazing tits, and I wanted to tangle my hands in her hair. Why did no man want her? Or did she not want anyone? What had happened? If someone had hurt her, I would murder them. I was a scientist. I had a room full of chemicals in my lab that could kill someone in any number of gruesome and untraceable ways.
I shouldn’t ask her—but I wanted to know.

Sadie was occupyinga large percentage of my brain space, and she continued to do so for the next few days. Remy had the maker fair scheduled that coming weekend, and Sadie threw herself into helping with last-minute organization.
“I have to admit,” I said when I walked into one of the decorated warehouses at the conference center, “this is pretty nice.”
Archer’s conference center was at the old Mast Brothers’ chocolate factory. It consisted of several large warehouses and former factories. It was currently in the first phase of development. Sadie had draped the warehouse in white and blue fabric. Tables were neatly arranged in rows marching down the length of the large warehouse. The two-story glass windows let in ample light. There were signs up welcoming people to the maker fair.
“This is where you’ll be,” she said, pointing to a large, decorated booth near the entrance bearing the Rural Trust logo. “You have to get everyone hyped up and excited!”
“You did a lot of work,” I said, turning to her.
“Remy did most of it; I just added a little frosting! I love nonprofit work!” Sadie laughed and linked arms with Remy. “He and I are kindred spirits.”
I felt like I was going to combust. Maybe Remy was no longer going to be my favorite brother. I glared at him. He smiled blandly at me. Why did I even care? I couldn’t date my employee. It was a recipe for disaster.
She asked you to take her virginity.
