“What?” Meg said irritably to the room. “This is pure coincidence. I assure you, he did not stay the night at my house.”

“Then where were you?” Blade asked Hunter. “You didn’t come home.”

Hazel slid Sadie’s pancake onto the counter along with my omelet and waved me up.

“I was looking for Dad,” Hunter said in a low growl as I walked up to the counter.

“Did you find him?” I asked him.

He shook his head.

“We need to do something,” Blade whispered.

“Maybe he’s already left?” I offered.

“He wants something,” Garrett said in a low voice. “He’s not going to leave until he gets it.”

“He’s not staying in a hotel,” Archer said, running a hand through his messy hair. “I checked the records. I own the only hotels in the area.”

The door flung open again. I gritted my teeth. The early-morning sun was shining through the window, making me squint. It was another tall blond man, but I couldn’t make out his face. A woman was with him. Maybe it was Mace and Josie?

The doors closed. My eyes adjusted.

“Fuck!”

“Dad?”

“What the hell?”

“There they are,” Kaitlyn said, pointing.

“Thank you very much, miss,” my father said, patting Kaitlyn on the shoulder.

She crossed her arms as if she was just there to enjoy the drama.

My brothers and I were frozen. I didn’t think most of them had seen my father in almost twenty years, not since they’d left the compound.

Behind me, Garrett was about to blow a gasket.

Sadie was still slurping her ridiculous coffee confection obliviously. She smiled over her shoulder at me. “Are you going to come eat?” she called out.

My father smiled at her and approached her. “Good morning,” Leif said.

I stalked over, grabbed him, and pushed him away from Sadie. She shrieked as we banged into the table, spilling the coffee all over the floor.

“Parker, what are you doing?” she cried, trying to dab at the coffee splatters on her skirt.

Kaitlyn sidestepped as I knocked over another table, trying to wrestle my father to the ground.

“Parker, stop! You’re going to get arrested for assault!” Sadie cried. “Meghan’s calling the police!” She gestured at Meghan, who was on the phone.

Hunter kept trying to put himself between our father and her. Meghan, who took her deputy mayor role seriously, was having none of that.

“Yes, officer, they’re fighting in the café.”

I made a disgusted noise.

“You might want to let go of me,” my father said with that gotcha smile on his face.
