"I don't know, I should probably get some work done," she said, slightly breathless.
"What work? You work for me," I retorted, pulling her close to me, reveling in her softness.
"We still have a lot left to do to make sure Sebastian sells you that company."
"Just take a night off," I said as I pressed her back against the seat.
She whimpered softly as I kissed her neck up to her mouth. I kissed her hungrily, needing her. I undid the red cape. That’s the problem with fall, I thought.Too many layers. My hand cupped her breast, pinching the hard nipple and making her moan. Penny spread her legs slightly, and I pressed my other hand against the soaking panties. She bucked slightly against my hand. My fingers pushed under her panties. I wanted nothing more than to watch her come undone in my arms.
I stroked the hot wetness, Penny making high-pitched moans against my mouth as I teased her. "I want to see you come," I whispered against her mouth.
She bit her lip as I teased her clit.
In the dark, her phone lit up, ringing, and she started, pushing me off to grab for it. "I, um—I should go. Thanks for the evening. It was amazing." She kissed me lightly then practically shoved me out of the car.
"Clearly not that amazing if she just up and left," I muttered, watching her drive away. I wondered what I had done and stewed on it as I went into the house.
"I didn't expect to see you back," Archer said when I walked in. "Did you blow your date? Or maybe you're back because she didn't blow you!"
"Archer," Hunter reprimanded.
"I'm going for a run," I told my brothers and went upstairs to change. Then I walked out the front door. I could have gone on the trails around back, but it felt as if something was pulling me back into town. As I ran, slowly increasing my pace, I quickly warmed up in the cold.
Before long, I found myself outside of the old Victorian house.

Penny
Iwanted to stay with Garrett and have passionate, mind-bending sex, but then my phone rang, destroying the fantasy of the perfect evening.
My mother's name was on the screen. I knew she was calling about the article. I was jumpy, and I called her as soon as I parked the car in front of the old Victorian house. I could not afford to lose my license on top of everything else.
"There you are," my mother said sharply when she answered.
"I'm still working on finishing that sample article," I said quickly. "I'm trying to get some more information."
"You've been there for weeks. You were at the Halloween party, for God's sake!" she snapped. "I saw it on Instagram. You have to give me something. Don't disappoint me."
"They're not that interesting," I lied, slumping down on the floor. Salem came over to rub his furry black head against my arms. "I promise I'll have something together soon."
"There are people counting on you, Penny," Trisha said. "If the magazine doesn’t do well this coming quarter, a lot of people will lose their jobs. It will beyour fault."
"Crap," I whispered after she hung up. I rested my head on my arms.
I stayed that way for several minutes until Morticia and Lilith hauled me to my feet. "We ran you a bath. We were out collecting herbs by the moonlight, and we put some in the water for you. It will calm you down."
"What am I going to do about the article?" I groaned as they prodded me upstairs.
"Did you ask the Romani queen for help?" Lilith asked as she deftly unbuttoned my cloak.
"Yes, sort of. Maybe I wasn't specific enough."
"She will come through for you," Morticia said.
"Should I go leave another offering?"
"You're too worked up for it right now," Lilith said. "Soak in your bath. It will do you good."
