Funny, because I was about to burst into flames.

I tried to cool down as I drove him back to the Svensson estate. My libido and the rational part of my brain were having a knock-down, drag-out, dirty fight. My libido wanted me to hike up my skirt and straddle Garrett as soon as I put the car in park. The rational part was all like, "No, Penny, do not kiss your boss, don't lose your job and your only hope of writing that article! Think of your student loans, think of your credit card debt! Why won't anyonepleasethink of Penny's terrible financial situation?"

I put the car in park. I did not hike up my skirt. Before Garrett left, he put a hand on my arm.

"Thank you for your help today." He might have said something else, but I was breathing in his unique masculine scent and tracing the strong jaw in my mind and trying not to drool. I really had it bad for this guy. It was just lust, I told myself. One good roll in the hay, and I would so be over him.

"Have a wonderful fall evening!" I called out.

Garrett looked over his shoulder at me, confusion on his face and that same quirk on his mouth. I wanted to see him smile and laugh. And have his babies.

"Geez, Penny," I muttered. "Get it together."

A long stint of baking and sugar was in order. Just what the doctor ordered. I plotted what I was going to bake as I locked the car when I was back at the Victorian house.

"Or you could go see the Romani queen."

I shrieked and whirled around. There were Morticia and Lilith, standing right beside my car.

"Where did you come from?" I yelled.

Morticia held out a shovel. "Securing more decorations."

"I don't even want to know," I said as I followed them up to the dark Victorian house. Salem wound around my legs when I went inside.

"So have you smashed your boss yet, or are you two just staring into each other's eyes?" Lilith asked.

"What? Where did you hear about that?" I demanded. I looked around at the melted candles and the burned incense in the living room. "Did the spirits tell you something?"

"No dummy, we saw it on the town Facebook group," Morticia said.

"I'm all over the Facebook group?"

I pulled out my phone. There were Garrett and I, locked in an embrace on the stage.

Love blooms in Shakespeare.

"Ida. Argh! This is going to cost me my job!"

There was a horrible screech and a crash. We ran outside.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" a woman yelled, running over to us. Garrett's car sagged on the ground. All the tires seemed to have ruptured, and the windshield was blown out.

"I barely scratched it!" she said in shock. "I thought I saw something, and I jerked the wheel, but I swear, I barely scratched your car!"

Lilith patted the woman's hand.

"No," Morticia shook her head. "Thatis what's going to cost you your job.”

Garrett

"What am I doing?" I muttered as I walked into the house. The kids had already eaten. Archer was sitting at the dining room table with Hunter, Mace, and Parker. They were rehashing the meeting with Sebastian.

"There's Mr.Shakespeare in Love!" Archer called out when he saw me.

"What are you talking about?" I growled.
