She grinned.
"Sebastian is coming here in a few days," I told her. "We need to make sure we all know everything there is to know about him. Favorite foods, how he takes his coffee, everything. We've started a dossier on him, but perhaps you can add to it."
Penny nodded.
"Talk to Bronwyn. She's started on the dossier already."

The last thing I wanted to do was go talk to Bronwyn. But Garrett had asked for a dossier, and there was only so much surfing on the internet I could do.
Bronwyn was on her phone headset when I knocked on her office door. She swiveled around in her chair to stare at me.
"Yes, I know," she said into the headset. "Poor girl showed up in a Halloween outfit. Garrett was horrified, as he should be."
Great. Love it when people talk about me when I'm right there.
"Really? I think we would be good together too. He's going to see how invaluable I was in winning the Thalian Biotech company, and then he'll realize we were made for each other."
Gag.Who would want to date, let alone marry Garrett Svensson? He was crazy. Hot, yes—I wasn’t blind or delusional—but seriously, who would want to listen to him complain about straws for the next fifty years?
"Well, his brothers are dating their employees. Josie was Mace's assistant, you know."
I tapped my foot.
"Of course we'll do drinks tomorrow!"
"Not that it's any of my business," I said dryly when she ended the call, "but I couldn't help overhearing. Something tells me that Garrett doesn’t want a crazy bitch for a girlfriend."
"You're just jealous," Bronwyn scoffed. "All you do is drive Garrett around."
"You don't know. Maybe that's part of my Machiavellian plan. Spend a lot of alone time with Garrett in a car. Maybe I'll casually get lost and end up in a romantic overlook."
Bronwyn's mouth was a thin, angry line. "Garrett doesn’t want someone likeyou. You're not good enough for him."
"Get over yourself," I said, rolling my eyes. "There is nothing about Garrett that would make me want to touch him with a ten-foot pole."
I mean, maybe Icouldtouch him, sexually speaking, but only to make Bronwyn angry. Not because Garrett was superhot.
"Garrett's going to fall in love with me as soon as I win him this biotech company. We're going to be engaged after a tasteful one point eight years of dating, then we're going to get married at his family estate." Bronwyn smiled. "You won't be invited."
"I'd rather eat a slug than come to your wedding," I said. "Speaking of the super-awesome project, Garrett wants me to finish up the dossier on Sebastian."
"I'm doing that!" Bronwyn screeched.
I winced. "Now I am. Send me everything you have, please. Don't want to make Garrett angry, do you?" I batted my eyelashes at her.
"Fine," Bronwyn spat. "You're still going to fail."

I spentthe rest of the afternoon researching Sebastian. Bronwyn did send me files, but I doubted they contained all that she had collected.
Garrett had his scowl back on. A desk that had magically appeared in his office along with one of those uncomfortable but expensive plastic chairs. I much preferred the couch.
Shifting in the squeaky seat, I emailed an old coworker of mine. She wrote back that she was working on a big article about Sebastian. She would send me her notes if I promised to bake her sister's baby shower cake.
