"Just not the hearse."

The next afternoon,I was working on the presentation when Garrett came in with that self-satisfied smile on his face.

"You done for the day?" he asked.

I looked at the clock. "It's only 3:30, so yeah. What's up?"

"I have a surprise for you," Garrett said. "It's a really nice surprise." He seemed very pleased with himself.

"What is it?"

"You'll never be able to guess," he said smugly

"Hmm," I said as I packed up my laptop.

This couldn't be a ruse because he found out about the article, could it?I thought in a panic then forced myself to calm down. That was dead and buried. All of Bronwyn's threats wouldn't bring it up.

"Is it another kid?"

"No," Garrett scoffed. "Besides, my little brothers are not a nice surprise."

"The kids are nice!" I protested as Garrett helped me with my coat.

"Yes," he said impatiently, "but I wouldn't just hand you a baby and say, 'Here, Penny, take care of this, it's not even yours.'"

As soon as he said the word "baby," I was like,Yes please!Which was weird, because I had never been one to be like, OMG baby! But Garrett's baby, especially if it looked like his brothers…

"You just zoned out there," he said, kissing my nose on the stairs.

"I was thinking," I said, heading down the open staircase. "Is it another load of pumpkins? A stack of cupcakes? A giant cast-off wedding cake that the wedding cake maker had on hand because the wedding got canceled on account of the bride sleeping with the best man and you helpfully rescued an abandoned wedding cake?"

"You want someone else's wedding cake?" Garrett asked in confusion.

"I love wedding cake!" I exclaimed, clapping my hands as we walked through the lobby. "People act like fondant is nasty, but a good cake maker makes it a very thin layer then has a half inch of icing underneath. Plus wedding cakes are pretty with all the tiers, and you can have different flavors. You don't have to give me aweddingwedding cake, but what if it was a wedding cake but with say, Halloween decorations or something? Then I could have my cake and eat it too!" I snorted a laugh at my own joke.

"It's not a wedding cake," Garrett said slowly.

"Tell me!" I said when we were in the car. I had been parking farther away, just in case the ghost decided to blow the car up, so there would be as little collateral damage as possible.

"You have to guess."

I straddled him, kissed him, and started loosening his tie.

"I bet I can make you give me a hint," I said, unbuttoning his shirt. Garrett gritted his teeth as I kissed the V of bare skin of his muscular chest. I rocked my hips against him, feeling him grow hard.

"I’m not even wearing any tights," I whispered against his mouth, "so this will be a quick and easy fuck and a win for me when you spill what my surprise is."

"I have a strong will," he said, nostrils flared.

"Do you?" I purred, slowly unbuttoning my shirt. He swallowed, Adam’s apple jumping with the motion.

"I know you like my tits," I said.

His hands moved up and down my sides as I pulled one breast out of my lacy bra then the other. Garrett buried his face in them, kissing the swells of flesh then sucking and nipping a nipple, rolling it in his teeth.

I ground against him, and his hand slipped under my skirt to caress my ass then trace the edge of lace panties to slip inside between my legs and stroke me. I gasped, whimpering, as he teased me.
