The world is spinning, I’m not sure where my pants are, and my pussy is still spasming.
“That was amazing,” I say, looking down at the ground. A bit of dizziness hits me as I take in just how high up we are.
“Sex is on the list of things you’re good at,” he says with a smile.
“Oh, I totally agree, though that was mostly you.” I blink away the stars that dot my vision.
“I am good.” He gives me a cheeky grin and bends down to pick up my underwear and my pants, holding onto me as I put them back on. We sit on the pitch of the roof again, looking out at the night.
“It’s peaceful up here.” I rest my head against him. We stay on the roof for a few more minutes, and then go inside. The guys are all sitting around the living room, totally enthralled inHarry Potter. It’s so fucking cute I almost can’t handle it. I go upstairs to shower and change into PJs.
When I get out of the shower, I towel off and go into the bedroom, finding Jac on the bed.
“Hey,” I say, a smile coming to my face as soon as I see him.
“Hi.” He smiles back and my stomach flutters. “Did you have fun?”
“I did. It really is nice going out. I finally know why people have friends,” I joke. I’m wrapped in a towel and don’t bother with modesty. Jac’s seen me naked before. I cross the room and pull a pair of athletic shorts from my dresser, slipping them on and then removing the towel. I rub my hair with it before I put on a shirt.
“I came up with a way for you to try to contact your mother again.”
“Really?”
I toss the towel into the bathroom and join him on the bed.
“Yes.”
I blink, heart racing with the thought of seeing my mother again. “That’s amazing but…why?”
He tips his head to the side a bit, the way he does when he’s deep in thought. He doesn’t realize he’s doing it, and I find it just a little bit adorable. “I thought about the incident earlier more and more. For a spirit to want you to do a banishing spell, they’d either have to be genuinely concerned about you or trying really hard to gain your trust. You never doubted your mother was who she said she was, so I’m going with the first option.”
I nod. “I want to agree, and I’m trying really hard to be objective on this, but you have a solid point. She has no reason to go that far to prove it’s her. I already think it is.”
“Exactly. Which is why it’s worth contacting her again.”
“I don’t want to open a rift again.”
“If we do things differently, you shouldn’t. You mentioned seances, and while they are dangerous, if done correctly, we could make contact and use one line of communication instead of opening a doorway.”
“I’m liking this idea. Go on.” I push my wet hair over my shoulder.
“It’ll require a complicated spell that has to be cast on the first day of the full moon cycle.”
“Which is in three weeks.”
“Yes. If we practice and train hard until then, I don’t see why you couldn’t perform the spell with ease.”
I nod, imagining myself in black robes sitting in a class and learning about spell casting just like what I saw on TV a few minutes ago.
“What do I do?”
“I’ve never taught anyone how to use magic, but I’ve come up with a plan.” He opens his notebook and puts his finger on the page. “You need to get better at channeling and controlling the fire, first and foremost. And you really should know the basics, which I can help you with. I didn’t teach anyone how to use magic, but I was taught—very thoroughly—what magic does. You should know the properties of stones and herbs as well as memorize simple chants and spells.”
“I can do that. It’ll almost be fun.”
He smiles. “I’m glad you think so, because here is what you need to know by tomorrow night.” Flipping a page in the notebook, he shows me a very long list. “I saw on a TV show that flashcards can help with this.”
I blink, running my eyes over the list twice. “That’s, uh, a lot.”
