“You are mine, wife and I want to please you until you cannot be pleased any longer.”
His words and his hard body shot thrills through her as he wedged himself between her legs and drove himself hard inside her. She gasped and threw her head back as he thrust harder and faster until her climax burst upon her and liquid pleasure flooded her veins. He tensed and thrust hard a few more times which brought about a second and even more intense climax than the last.
Throughout the night they loved and laughed and slept and started all over again. How many hours they shared themselves in the chamber she did not know. And she didn’t care. All she cared about now was the man who snored lightly beside her as she stared into the dying embers of the fire.
Everything that had happened that led them to this moment was a blessing. She could see that now. Even the turmoil she’d endured kept her on the path that had eventually crossed with his.
Stroking his hair she adored it when he snuggled closer to her in his sleep. She wanted to get up to get some more food, but she didn’t want to lose the feeling of him holding her so tight.
“You’re awake?” he whispered.
“Aye, my love. Sleep now.”
“Thank the gods,” he said. “I thought you were ready to go again. I am a strong man, but even strong men have their limits.”
Elspeth tilted her head back and laughed. “I believe I am the luckiest woman in the world,” she said.
“Then I am the most fortunate man.”
He leaned back and sat up for a moment.
“Is aught all right?” she asked him.
“It is. I feel safer here,” he said. “And I want to make sure again that you do not feel pressured in living in a place that is so different for you.”
“You do not have to worry about me, my love. As I told you before. I am happiest wherever you are.”
He reached over and kissed her softly then gazed into her eyes. “I do not know which god is responsible for bringing you to me, but I will get down on my knees and thank each and every one of them right now. I love you, my beautiful wife. I love your heart, and your mind, and all your gifts,” he said, his voice going hoarse.
“And I love you, my hot-headed, Viking husband.”
“Hot-headed, hey?” he asked with a grin. “I’ll show you who is hot-headed.”
Magnus flipped her onto her back and raised her arms over her head then began a maddeningly torturous onslaught with his tongue starting from her neck then trailing down her body until he had tasted every inch of her and she was breathless once again.
Her rumbling stomach after her last climax was the only thing that stopped him from continuing.
“Come, my wife,” he said, pulling her up. “Let’s get you fed.”
“I admit, I have worked up quite an appetite.” Then she thought of something. “How long are we permitted to stay here until we have to acknowledge your guests again?”
“My mother and father stayed in their wedding chamber for four days.”
“Four days?”
She loved the sound of it, but she realized she’d need some serious sustenance if they were to break that record. Elspeth hopped out of the bed and began loading up a trencher with bread and meat and filled a large goblet full of ale.
Magnus’ laughter was a delight to her very soul. Aye, whichever god was responsible, she owed them all her blessings.
EPILOGUE
Her belly heaved as the bairn she carried kicked hard. Elspeth held little Astrid’s hand as Magnus covered her eyes. Four summers of hard work and labour had come to this moment. They’d cleared the land, they’d set their gardens, and he had built her tower house. Well, most of it. Right now it was only one level, but he’d said he would keep building until he reached the sky if she wanted. The world outside their little haven had gone mad, yet they managed to create a world that was safe for their family. Sometimes she envisioned them under the dome of an enchantment. It was a beautiful thought.
“Are you ready, love?” Magnus asked.
“Aye! I want to see!”
“Me too, Fader!” Astrid said.
