Rubi nodded. “I love their pineapple soap.”

“My favorite is the pumpkin spice, but they only have it available in October and November.” She sighed. “Anyway, if all goes well, I’ll become a supplier.”

“That’s fantastic.”

“Yeah. Don’t worry about paying for it. I’ll bring you a bigger bottle in a couple days.”

“Thanks.” Rubi screwed the lid back on. “Would that be a full-time business?”

“Eventually. I hope so.”

“But ” Rubi waved to the set. “What about this?”

Tanya grabbed a basket and began gathering the props left out. They had finished filming about thirty minutes ago and the more expensive items would be locked up for the night. She glanced around. “I haven’t told many people because it’s so early, but I’m expecting.” She patted her stomach. “I could build this business and be at home with my baby, so ” She shrugged.

“Congratulations!” Rubi hopped up and hugged her. “That’s the best news I’ve heard all day.”

“Thank you. We’re really excited. This is our first.”

They talked for a few more minutes before Tanya got called to help organize the portable storage unit on site. This was the first time Rubi had talked about babies without falling to pieces since Jelly Bean. She pressed her hand over her chest, wondering if the ache would ever go away. Strangely, she didn’t want it to, didn’t want to let go of the connection she felt with her angel niece.

After saying goodbye, Rubi headed towards her trailer. She was looking forward to shedding the layer of fine sand that had accumulated just about everywhere on her body during filming and slathering the new lotion all over. Her phone dinged a text and she snatched it from her back pocket.

Wanna go fishing?asked Cash.

She couldn’t help but smile. Memories of their time on the lake, the soft kisses, the words that caressed her soul, and the pure bliss were still so fresh that she could take them out and look at them whenever she chose. Sometimes, they even popped up when she wasn’t expecting them. Those were the best.

Don’t you mean, procrasta-fishing?

It is fish-thirty p.m.

Rubi giggled.

“Don’t tell me, it’s anAvengersmeme,” joked Beau Mckay as he sidled up next to her. Until recently, Beau was Atlanta’s hottest playboy. In an interview last week, he said he’d laid eyeson Cindy Knight and knew there was only one woman in the world for him.

“An inside joke.” Rubi hugged her phone to her chest, wishing she could just hug the man instead.

“Really?” Beau cocked an eyebrow. “Are you joking with anyone I know?”

Rubi laughed. “I doubt it.”

“What’s goin’ on?” asked Cindy as she slipped her arm around Beau’s waist. He dropped his arm across her shoulders and kissed her hair.

Rubi smiled. These two were so in love it shot out from their fingertips. Picturing herself and Cash doing the same thing was all too easy.

“Rubi’s got herself somethin’ goin’ on with a mystery man.” Beau winked at Cindy.

“Oh, stop teasing her.” Cindy gave him a little shove. “He might look like an old bear, but he’s a big old romantic at heart.”

Beau scowled. “I take offense to that.”

“What?” asked Rubi. “To being a romantic?”

“No, to being calledold.”

Cindy rolled her eyes and the girls laughed. Beau had some gray at his temples, but according to the gossip rags, it only made him more distinguished and handsome.

A few weeks ago, Rubi would have considered Beau and Cindy’s relationship doomed. At some point, they wouldn’t be working on the same project and time and distance would come between them. Watching them now, she decided that if anyone had a chance at making a power couple marriage work, it would be these two.
